Sherwood 5030 Featherlite

It must be new - I got my Momemtum XD blades in and they now list their curves along with the Easton clone...so the Regehr says DR Regehr on the hosel. Kovy is right about the Havlat, same thing - LI Havlat.

I saw on the Crosby's XD retail blade that it's now a Sa(Sakic). To me the Crosby does not look like the Sakic at all.

Christian Sticks are great for fire wood!!!! heavy as a log.... Jagar I think was the last guy in the NHL they could get to use them. 5030's they are OK if your 45+ but we sell way more of the z-95 by Easton... different core so its lighter..

You have obviously not tried a Christian woodie in a while. Our Pro 2000 is lighter than most comparable sticks on the market.

Where can I get one in the drury curve (5)? YOu don thave any on your website

Keep the opinions coming

We don't stock every curve in every stick, we don't have the space to store them. Drury is #3, 5 is iggy/hull. Sherwood doesn't have a Drury clone either.

Actually the Regehr is now a Drury clone.

How close is it to the Easton Drury? Got any specs or pics? ;)

Z-95s are fine if you can't shoot. I was going through almost one a game after they changed them. The original version was much better than the one they're selling now.

Wow, comments like that really make me want to shop at your store

Care to explain why 5030's are only suitable if you are 45+ ? I've got 15 years to go before I hit 45, so I guess I should start looking for a new stick to use until then.

A couple decent slappers and they're a noodle, a couple more and they're splinters.

Not trying to threadjack here, so Mods feel free to delete or move this post if it doesn't belong here.

The stick above, looks alot like a stick I have, and it is giving me fits.

I simply cant get a decent shot off if the puck is anywhere on the blade besides the rear 1/3 of the stick (closest to the heal.)

The front 2/3 of the blade is great for close in work, I can top shelf it from point blank range, I can get decent backhanders, but for wrists and slapshots, I have to be extremely concientious where the puck is on the blade. If it's two close to the toe, the puck tries to ramp over the blade and I get a weak and fluttery shot.

Is this normal for the design of the blade, that hard shots can only come from the heal? Or do I just need more practice with the new curve?

I havn't changed curves in 15 years so I real can't remember the last time I tried to get used to a new bend. Just wondering if it's me or the stick.

If it's new to you, it'll always have a time of adjustment done. I've used heels all my life and always keep the slapshots to come from the heel of the curve and just rely on rolling the wrists to keep it low.

Thanks guys. So is a curve like that even useful to a guy who just found out he'll be playing D this year? (Curse my killer D-man skills!) That close in work this stick was working good for just became the exception instead of the norm.

When I do get a solid slapper or wrist, it always goes up.

I suppose I'll get better in time, but if most of my shots will be coming from the point, would I be better off with a more slapshot friendly curve? (something with a larger sweet spot?) I'm concerned about hitting someone in the face.

So is the Christian 1000 the closest to the 5030?

Rusty if you do fire a lot of slappers from the point you may want to look into a composite or you'll go through sticks like apparently chadd does. I like my wrister from the point so I don't crank it up and my woods have lasted a long time, almost too long if you've got a hankering for a new one ;)

it happend to me when i switched to drury clones, you have to snap it from the heel of the blade, but you can learn to shoot with the toe from long range, it all comes with practice. i now can toe drag and wrist it, before i couldn't get off anything without the puck flutter.

once you learn the ropes you'll love it

chadd, i still dont understand how you can go through it so fast. i take used to play 3 times a week and another 2 days in the rink taking slappers, and i found it it was going through the 5030 blade pretty slowly, like in the second week, 6-7 ice time it would break on me on a slapper. but then again im ony 510 185, i dont know how big you are.

I'm 6-1 230. I don't bury the stick in the ice by any means but I do like to let the stick snap through to generate velocity on my shots.

So is the Christian 1000 the closest to the 5030?

Yes, it even looks very similar.
