The Webster

Bauer Vapor XXX Goalie Stick

Recommended Posts

Haha. Its looks pretty nice (me not being a goalie). How many composite goal sticks are there out there? I know TPS makes one and maybe this is Bauers response to the composite goal sticks.

TPS made the first comp goalie stick. The Xhale, then they made the Xhale 2, then the Respose Plus. Wich in turn had RBK now making a comp, and Sher - Wood also. I heard about the Bauer one but I haven't seen it in person yet. (The RBK's arn't like the real Comp like TPS and sher wood made.) Oh Vaughn also made one the Gold series i believe.

Didn't Maltese's stick come out before TPS's?

Yes, at least I saw them long before I saw TPS had one.

theyre not very well known...

Actually a lot of goalies know about them.

Never heard of them... they don't sound "Big" enough, for me to consider.

That's one of the dumber things I've heard, a lot of innovation comes from small brands.

as a player how has seen composite stick break after begin hit with a shot i have to wonder how durrible these bad boys are?

well the top of the paddle is concaved like the xn10 to give it some durability

To correct a couple things here, I offer the following information.

The CCM G12 is NOT a full composite stick. Neither is the Sherwood Eclipse, or the Montreal whatever the name is. And, to the best of my knowledge, the RBK isn't either. All of the above sticks have a composite handle, with a composite reinforced foam core paddle. Of the 4, I think the CCM has the best balance and flex. But, don't be mislead and pay a higher price for a stick that isn't a true composite.

As of the show last year, the only true composite goal sticks were

TPS Hockey-

Response Plus

XHale 2

Xhale

Genesis

BNH-

Bauer Vapor

Maltese-

PM714

PM813

Of course, things have developed since the last show, and I look forward to seeing whats available at the show in January.

As someone who has been using the Response Plus since the beginining, I'm pretty sure this statement is false. I am going to check when I get home, but I don't recall any sort of concave in the paddle or handle of the stick.

No concave in the paddle of any response plus that I've seen but that might have been a running change.

Phil at maltese hockey came out with his stick (pm.714) roughly one year prior to the TPS xhale hitting the market. There have been a couple of other composite sticks but none available to the us/canadian market without some import trickery.

The G12 are pieces of junk even though they are not full composites. I work with a team and the goalie has been using them and they have been breaking away in pieces. I have never seen a goal stick break down so quickly. As soon as she breaks the last one the tender is going back to wood.
