rink rat hornets(exploding)

Recommended Posts

I showed my 9500s to the guy that owns the skate shop at my rink. He looked at the wheels and noticed some air bubbles on two of the wheels (RR MB816). He told me to look out for blow-outs. Apparently that has been a problem with the RRs. It's true, I have not noticed the air pockets as large as in the RRs with any other wheels. Occasionally you will see tiny air bubbles, but with these, the air bubble is quite large. I hope they don't chunk out on me.

I think with the MB816 you have to worry about cracking a hub more than a blow out...theres just not too much actual urethane on the wheel to realy be able to chunk out.

It's only been a few days since I contacted Mike, so I can't give you a time frame, as i do not have them yet.

I did deal with him about a year ago, and the wheel showed up the next day.

Maybe they're getting a new batch made, and they're waiting for that.

I don't believe that they would send out a wheel, from the same batch, only to have the same situation possibly come back.

I'll keep you guys posted though.

I spoke to mike about my hornets that split and when they are sending me out my replacements and he said that they were getting new hubs and that the splitting problem has been resolved.

Playa - Are the Hornets you're having problems with the ones that came on your new Mission 7500?

No they were some gold/purple hornets that split before i got my 7500 but i replaced the hornets on my 7500 with labeda fuzions and i am very happy.

You know, you're right! I mean, the RR wheels aren't a problem, yet. They have performed very well. But looking back, with the Tour boots, now the potential for these wheels to blow-out, yeah, times have been tough.

You are right, Mike did say that they were making a new batch, but he said they were going out Mid-November.

Hey Guys,

First I would like to thank everyone for their patients on these matters. I know how aggrivating it is to try to deal with us manufactures sometimes. I also know that some of you have been waiting patiently for your replacements to get to you. We just receievd our hubs that I was expecting 2 weeks ago and were pouring as we speak. If your waiting for replacement wheels they will be going out next week. Please rememeber that not all of our hubs were bad, there was a batch that got out and we rectifyed the situation.

Also, please never feel like your a bother guys. If I told you I would do something for you and it hasn't been done yet call me and scream at me. LOL

In all seriousness we had some issues with (some) of our hubs cracking and breaking thus making the wheels break. We have solved all the issues and will not have this issue moving forward.

As all good company's do we live by our customer service. If you have an issue email me at mike_hunt@mearthane.com and I will do my best to help you.

I apolagize to the guys who have had problems with their wheels, I also apolagize for those who have had to wait a couple of extra weeks. I want to make sure you get the best of the best so you don't have to go through this again!

Thanks again guys and If I don't see you before WinterNationals please have a safe and happy holiday with your families.

Regards,

Michael Hunt

Hi Mike, id like to question your "great company"statement: why have i had to call you over 10 times (longdistance international) only for you to never return my calls ??

Complaining on a forum is never cool , but i guess its the only way you to get you to respond: PM me.

Thanks.

Est,

You're right, complaining and calling out Mr. Hunt directly on the forum isn't very cool. You really should have just PMed him or something.

I understand your loss of patience. Not getting responded to can be downright insulting sometimes. But there is an element of professionalism that should be maintained. Your problems with Mike Hunt should stay personal.

I have had some really rough issues with my Tour skates/chassis. I made my calls and emails. To date (over a month) I have not been contacted back. But I wouldn't come on here and specifically badmouth them on here. Where I will remember it is when it comes time for me to buy more skates, sticks, etc. Buying something Tour again will take some serious consideration. Now I have a pair of $400 skates that are basically rotting in my basement. I think that's a little different than your $8 wheels.

Mike's been a good-guy. I'm sure he's swamped. Give the guy a chance. I'm sure he will make things right.

96- I agree with you, It sucks to buy 400 skates and not use them.. if you ever do get in contact with tour and they try to replace the code1s, and your not sure if you want another pair of code1s, ive heard very good things about the Code E-2's. I hear they are stiffer.. kinda like the blue max was to the beemer

Hate to turn this into a Code 1 topic, but...

I was very happy with the Code1s. The boot raises my susipicion as far as durability is concerned, but it's the chassis I had my problems with. The Cateye dented to hell extremley easily, and then I paid the 98 bucks for a the older Humm'r, and for some reason no set of bearings (608 or 688) fits properly. I always get some sort of wobble or clicking noise, which leads to screw loosening as soon as I play.

Perhaps when I called Tour they felt this was a Labeda issue since it was their chassis. I dunno. But it was on their boot. So you tell me!

I would like to see the Code2s. I've only seen them on the Tour site. But like I said, after this whole Code1 thing went down, Tour not contacting, me wasting money on trying to fix the problem myself, it will be a hard-sell to get me back into Tours.

Just to say that i recieved my full set of green/yellow hornets free from rink rat today in the mail and they are great. They feel more solid and a bit harder than the normal 76A hornets and they feel very similar to a 78A but still with all the grip. So i think these might last longer than my old hornets :D

400th post!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

I'm not sure where it is, possibly earlier pages of this thread, but Mike Hunt of RR provided his email to a customer with problems from England. Perhaps you might want to try that.
