wickedwrister 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 Cant find the article, but the FBI is invesigating the gas companies 33 Billion dollar profits in ONE QUARTER :o ........Now you wonder why were paying so much..Its all freaking fraud I think the thing that pisses me off the most is that the Government's answer to this is creating a "windfall tax" for the oil companies instead of passing the savings on to the consumer. I would hope the revenue created would go toward the national debt. YEH RIGHT!!!
wickedwrister 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 I am just thankful the prices where I live have went down dramatically during the past 3 weeks. Here too. Down to $2.39 per Gal. They got us right where they want us...happy that it's ONLY $2.39. They got us used to paying well over $2.00, and I would be suprised if it ever goes below. To think, 3 years ago it was $.99 for regular. My pay has not increased 250%. Hmm odd.
Fury of One 6 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 I never thought I'd be paying $2-3 for gas. I hope it eventually goes below $2. The one station in my town gas is at $2.19. You gotta see the line of cars waiting to get it. The cops always break it up though cause it creates a mess traffic wise.

You gotta see the line of cars waiting to get it. The cops always break it up though cause it creates a mess traffic wise. That's like a couple weeks ago here when Gas was at $1.19 a litre ($4.50 a gallon), a 7-11 accidentally put it up as $.119 (so 11.9 cents a litre) and there had to be 50 cars waiting, and the station sold out of gas. My Dad saw it coming home from work, went to Canadian Tire and bought a huge plastic gas tank, threw it in the bed of his truck, and bought over 400 litres of gas, it was nuts. hattrick74 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 you gotta partially feel bad for the gas stations because they are makine pennies on the dollar for each gallon, so when prices go up they get all the blame but its the big 3 that are the "Evil empire"
goalie39 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 Lets remember who is in the government and think about what is REALLY going to happen. Obviously bush would hate to see the oil industry suffer, but dont forget our lovely secretary of state Condoleezza Rice who had an OIL TANKER named after her. All the top govt officials have major interest in oil, hence the Iraq war.

LOL, lets hope is doesn't blow up :Pactually, the amount of money we all pay for gas is fairly reasonable. the cost per barrel of crude oil has gone from $10 to $60 in the same time that gas prices have gone from $0.50/litre to $0.90/litre (canadian), so at least we're not paying as much as we "should be"

And by Summer 2006, prices will go up to $3.95 a gallon for the cheap stuff, and then everyone will be saying "thank god prices are back to normal" when it's $3.00 a gallon. What a joke. tokes 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 gas prices are less then they were 50 year ago, if you take into consideration inflation. According to the CPI, if gas hasn't changed price at all since 1950 we would have been paying 40 cents a gallon, assuming it's at 3 dollars today. In 1970 you could buy gas for 5 cents a gallon. That doesn't really add up to me.

hockey_player_11 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2005 Exxon did make out very well this quarter, thats for sure. And their excuse is that they need the money to go and look for more places to find and drill for oil along with investing money to get new drilling equipment, which is at a shortage now. This is a huge load of crap. There is no shortage in crude oil, the problem is that there aren't enough refineries. The companies that extract the oil can keep up with the demand, but the refineries can't.
