'04 Synergy line

I know the stealth has gone back to the rough Z-tac coating on the blade, but are the blades on the 04 synergy's Z-tac coated too?

I wish they'd bring that coating back and put it back on all their sticks and blades, that stuff was great. I really do think it made the blades more durable.

Yeah, that'd be the one I did a review on.

IMO they were much more durable than the 03 blades, but i did break both of my synergy's in the same place on the blade, so idk

I had an 02 Synergy Grip without the Z-Tac coating and this stick lasted me a while...it was a tank. However, two people on my team went through 2 of these sticks (with z-tac coating) in a season...both breaking at the blade. I've heard that the Z-Tac coating is supposed to be better...but from my experiences, it's not.

As far as I know, I don't believe there is any Z-tac on the '04 sticks. Can't speak to the Stealths as all the ones I've seen are pro issue and that just depends on the player.

As far as Z-tac adding to durability, don't have any info on that either. Not sure the two are directly related.

I had a '02 w/o the Z-tac, an '02 with Z-tac and an '03 Synergy. The Z-tac coating made a huge difference from my experiences.

Thank you for the heads up.

It may or may not be mental, but what doesn't help is how they had Z-Tac in '02 and then the '03 line had some...er, durability issues.

Yea...it seems to work both ways. So it's hard to say whether or not Z-Tac really makes much of a difference.

If you didn't try the Z-tac out yourself it'll be hard for you to contrast results. Your friends may be tougher on sticks than you. I know I've broken sticks in less than 2 weeks that have lasted others over a year. Its all dependant upon the user.

Possibly just the sheer amount of production demands and the repositioning/adding/changing of materials from 02 to 03 to 04. Let's not get back on THAT whole debate though...though everyone's claims would lend some stock to what we are saying on required materials...no? ironic that the proof seems to be in everyone's very complaints? haha.

Keep us posted on that Stealth Mack. I am really interested in buying a new one piece and the Stealth sounds nice but is it really going to be 500$ CDN or is the guy at the Moncton hockey equipment store just playing with me???

I heard $230 in Toronto but I think that now they're shooting for a little more than the Si-Core grip.

$230 US correct? It'll be hard to get a canadian estimate because it isn't basic conversion. I've seen Si-Core Grips for as much as $350 cdn. So I would expect it to be around $375 cdn.

This just in on Z-tac...no relation between durability and Z-tac. Was a feature only for keeping tape on better.
