Custom Skate options

I am currently trying to get a custom order through Graf...my "local" retailer claimed that "Graf doesn't do custom", and that I should purchase two pairs of skates from them so I decided to take my business elsewhere and get custom...g3 ultras hopefully.

stiffness: What are the different levels to choose from and which would be similar to the OTC 709s?

Great White, Black Widow/White Lightning (i believe on some models): What do each of these look like? I saw one guy that got some recently here on MSH, and they had a small Canadian flag on them. I can't find that pic anymore, but what style are those? Wish I could find that pic.

liner: What are the options here, and what are the benefits of each?

tongue: Single/double felt?

toe cap: No idea on this one or the benefits of any.

tendon guard: No idea on this one or the benefits of any.

You can get wider toe caps on your skates. White Lightning is all White, Black Widow is the entire skate black (even the logos I believe).

I'm not a good guy to ask for info about them all. Sorry. I'll try though.

Stiffness - my custom G3s are pro stiff i think its called. I don't know all the levels though.

Cosmetics - Great White is what you see Tucker wearing, or my G3s where the back is white, black widow is like Jagr, an all black skate, and White Lightning i believe is an all white skate.

Liner - I think you have the options from 7xx series or Gx series. I think it may have been the Gx series that had soaking up problems.

Tounge - Not sure, mines extra wide / extra long, and its massive. Great for a bit of protection to. Its quite thick.

Toe Cap - You can get an oversized toe cap, and the standard size, also you can get it lined, so its just not hard plastic. (On the inside that is)

Tendon Guard - I believe you can get it cut to different styles.

I hope my little bit of knowledge helps, if not PM sogaduch (he's helped me alot with custom grafs).

Stiffness - Chosing extra reinforcementes, etc.. Different materials are also an option, like teclite

Colour combo - Black Widow - All Black

- White Lightnig - All White

- Great Whites (I believe the main components are white)

- Reverse GW (The outlines are white)

- Retro Brown same as GW, but brown instead

- Those are mine with the flag, I'll try and get a pic

Liner - Graf 700 series, or Graf G series I believe are the options. I heard the G series holds water in more

Tongue - Sizes, long/short, fat/skinny, etc..

Toe cap - just go with the lined, it feels better :)

Tennon guard - Not sure on this hopefully Mike can help you out

I also had the option of whether I wanted plastic at the bottom or graphite. I opted to go with the plastic on the 700 series, rather than the G series.

My skates are Graf 709s btw, but go with what Graf model fits best

Hey guys, this info is all very helpful, as I'm trying to get my own customs and glad to know all the options...thanks, and keep posting if you can think of anything else!

Also now I think there are options for the 5000 holder, as well as a new tongue and liner which are on the ultra G skates..

Does the tendon guard option include extra padding around the ankle? This is something I might need, as my foot gets narrow pretty quick right above the heel, and I've always had to tie my skates very tight to keep the ankle snug.

For the lineing of the tounge...since I go farefoot and my toes usually get frozen in a colder rink..would that keep them a little warm at all?

Does anyone have additional insight on the outsoles (benefits of graphite or plastic)? Does the graphite change the look?

Also, does anyone know anything about the types and benefits of the various tendon guards?

I went with the new Ultra series outsole partly for looks and performance. I'd expect it to be more durable than the white plastic and since I don't plan on putting 8 different holders on my skates drilling through the composite won't be an issue.

Plus, GW with a black outsole will look freaking pimp.

while we are on the skate topic, does anyone know who wears the sick RBK 9k white skates. i would have to guess kovalev but i herd lupul also but i havent seen either player wearing them in any pictures.
