The GT1 is amazing, not other way to describe it. The 959 just doesnt do anything for me though. I'll take an F40 over a 959 anyday of the week.

You should read some about the 959. IMO, it was the most technologically superior car when built. It's still my favorite supercar. The all wheel drive system was just incredible. It could transfer 80% of the power to the rear wheels and changed it to 50/50 in slip conditions. The only bad thing was that the 4wd system added weight to the car. The new PSM system that is Porsche uses today is based off of that PSK system. The variable suspension changed the cars ride height at speed to keep it drivable up to 200mph. The tire monitoring system changed tire pressure, detected low tire pressure and even flaws in the rims, and included a run-flat capability.

And that's not even talking about the engine (which was taken from the Moby Dick car) and the sequential turbos. It was basically a race car that was very, very drivable. And it still goes 0-60 in under 4s.

Unfortunately, if I owned both, I'd drive the GT1 and the 959 wouldn't leave the garage.

Here's Bill Gates' 959 for sale as well.

That's not Bill Gates'- USDOT has even joked that his 2 959 Sports are still in the warehouse awaiting certification. Besides, if it was his, I don't think he would ever sell it. Remember- If Bill Gates had anything to do with it, it will crash the first time you use it.

959s are for parking, not for driving.

EDIT: parking in full view of the neighbourhood, btw. God forbid some kid on a bike crashes into it...

Id have to paint that car

Which one? If you're talking about the GT1, the decals come off.

And 959 are definitely for driving. I've heard that it's a very smooth ride for a car that performs at such high speeds. The only reason that I'd leave it in the garage is because I view it as such a big piece of automotive evolution.

That, and it would be absolutely devastating if it got a ding. I'd cry for sure. Although yes, I'm sure it'd be a pure joy to drive...it's an amazing piece of automobile.

They had the law changed and 959's can now be federalized. Gates has already crashed one. And yes, the link is of Gates' 959.

Obviously my automotive taste is different from yours, lego. Sure it may be an amazing car, but imo, there is no way that it is worth that much(375-395K). Thats Carrera GT range.

The F40 is lighter, more powerful, more torque, and just blows the 959 out of the water in the looks department. At roughly the same price, i'll take the F40.....please :)

Actually, you're wrong. Because you have to modify the 959 for federalization, it outperforms the F40. The result of the $85k in modifications (which is why US 959's cost more money than ROW ones) is 0-60 in 3.3s, 0-100 in 11.4s and a top speed of 215. A US 959 will give a McLaren F1 GTR a run for it's money, and will drive much better.

As far as weight, you can't cut much off of the 4WD suspension (not that you'd want to).

The aesthetics is just personal preference...

besides what is reported to be a clunky gearbox and enging cooling issues, it would actually say a mclaren f1 is more livable. it has fully fitted luggage, it's got a relatively forgiving ride, it has no turbo lag.

the 959 definately does blow the f40 out of the water. the f40 is like a fat gokart, it's such a raw car that if you lift off the throttle at high revs, it's fuel delivery system will still dump fuel into the cylinders, and though it does not light in the cylinders, it basically explodes in the exhaust (kind of like how you can see racecars with flames coming out the exhaust). imo, the 959 is a better car than the carrera GT. the 959 really pushed the limits, but the carrera GT stayed well within. the 959 also looks so sexy in an understated way. i can just see one pulling up to a ricer, and the asian kid in the ricer taking one look and thinking to himself "and old white guy in a stock 90's carrera" just before he gets smoked

Stop fooling around. The best car ever made is without a dobut the Buggati Veryron. 1001 HP, 0-60 in 2.9, and a top speed of 253 MPH, THE FASTEST CAR IN THE WORLD. It is governed at 253, so it can go faster (in theory). And to top it off, it weighs 4300 pounds! Thats mostly dude to the W16 engine and the 4 turbos, but who is counting. The car comes in around a million, same price as that six banger lil toy porsche.

fast, but damn, it looks like a concept car nightmare. that's subjective though. that thing must handle like a truck with all that weight.

I like the McLaren as well, but the 959 is a much more drivable car. The car will jump all over the place while driving at higher speeds (as will the 911 GT1), while the 959 is much smoother than both.

And leave it to Vapor to compare two cars that are 500 hp apart. The GT1 is a LeMans winner and can compete on any track with the Bugatti, despite the huge hp difference. And a US 959 can also keep close to both despite having "only" 500 hp and being built in 1987. Vapor... you do realize that a lot of that power is useless when you're in a turn. Right?

lol, calm down sir. I have seen 200 hp cars beat 600 hp cars, so yes, I know. I am just saying this is a marvelous car. I am just comparing it to the GT1, they are the same price, and both are beautiful cars. Dont say, but my car only has 500 hp, when you compare cars, they should be first and formost be the same price.

No, I don't think he realizes...and why does he equate the fastest car in the world to being the best? Faulty Vapor logic strikes again...

That's not how it works in racing, bud.

but uhhh, there consumer cars. I know cars that cost 4,000 dollars that ran 12 second 1/4 miles, can you compare it to a car that cost 50,000 dollars? no.

NOOOOO. You would not buy this car to track it, it is a status car, not a track car. Sure it has and will put up some amazing numbers, but by all means, you buy it to say, hey, look at me, im cool. If you wanted a track car you could spend about half the money have much better results.
