Shorty, you may like "Rob the Cradle" by Roxy Blue. A blatant Van Halen rip off if ever there was one.

Training Montage - off of Rocky IV

Theme from "The Rock"

Any rap song that doesn't have a gay beat and talks about killing or something.

Techno, I really like the Reptile Theme off of Mortal Kombat.

Techno gets me juiced before the games. Its got that beat to it that just gets the adrenaline pumpin.

If you want a REALLY good techno song pick up Smack My Bitch Up by Prodigy. I could listen to that for hours. Great song.

yeah, I have it, I listen to it all the time. Mostly during my workout.

Also, as Comp15 mentioned, Sandstorm is a great song.

What's that one song that goes, ohohohoh oh ohohohoho oh oh, lol? It's some techno song, I hear it all the time. That joint gets me puuumped

Holy crap, I actually have that tape somewhere! All I remember is that the title of the tape was "Want Some?" (or something like that) and I think it had a pic of an Uncle Sam like character on the cover. "Rob the Cradle" was their only"hit".....obviously influenced by Van Halen. I think I remember seeing the video a long time ago on Headbanger's Ball back when Ricki Rachtman (the long haired version) hosted it.

I had that tape too, I try not to admit it much. Possibly the worst Who cover ever on that tape. "Addicted to that Rush" by Mr Big ranks up there for a driving guitar song. Old RacerX stuff with Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert works too, though the vocals are a bit lacking.

Gilbert and Sheehan were the main reason to listen to Mr. Big. Unfortunately their big hit was a ballad (To Be With You) but they had some great rockers like the one you mentioned.

If I had a dime for every hair band tape that is collecting dust right now. A few of the embarrassments include: Firehouse, Steelheart, DangerDanger, Dangerous Toys, Trixter, L.A. Guns, Enuff Z' Nuff....just a small portion.

I'll still throw Poison, Warrant, Motley Crue, GnR and a few others into the CD player occasionally.

Remember: It's not how well you play but how big your hair is....

I have a pic of Andy Timmons from DangerDanger when he was in town for a guitar clinic. He gave me the settings John Petrucci used on the first Dream Theatre CD. I also had to pick up Trixter for another interview as I was hosting them that night and when Warrant was in town I ended up playing Mortal Kombat and drinking Corona until about 4:30 inthe morning.

I like most songs that the teams play before the opening faceoff. I know at the arena we have literally hundreds of CD's to chose from and way too many to list. Whenever I pick the opening music I have them come out to Welcome to the Jungle or Machinehead and they usually win.

I prefer the Bad Boy/G-unit version of the rocky theme. Has the beat in the backround, and that song gets me more pumped up then anything.

a lot of people use that beat. for example, ice cube and DMX in "we be clubbin" back in 1999.

My all time fav for when i hit the ice though, is "Y'all ready for this" by 2 unlimited. Puts some pop in my step...I'll admit it.

For me lately its been lots of linkin park, hoobastank, Trapt, Staind and POD. I usually make a playoff CD for my car when the playoffs roll around, last summer the last song I heard before going into the rink for our A final was Lose Yourself, I ended up playing like a mad man, we won the championship and I scored 3 goals and was the playoff MVP.

A MUST-HEAR is "Supersonic Speed" by "Die Happy". If this does not get you ready for a game, nothing will or you are braindead. Hear this (if possible) during warm up on the ice and it will make you wanna skate Bure-Speed.

Other than that (individual songs I had already mentioned on CoreBeam):

"The Game" by Drowning Pool

"Big In Japan" by Guano Apes

"We Can Be Heros" by Wallflowers

And my all-time favorite, great albums I listen to when driving to the rink:

"Foot In Mouth Disease" by GOB

"World According To Gob" by GOB

(did I mention that for me Gob makes the best music EVER?!)

i usually try not to listen to fast or loud music before i play. i find i play better if i listen to something calming. let's me focus more on what i need to do rather than how hard i need to play. something like portishead, national skyline, dj shadow, christie front drive, hendrix, hum....sortta atmospheric downturn or soul kind of stuff. of course if i do listen to something to pump me up its usually something like dillinger escape plan, killswitch engage (their new record is freaking fantastic), far, botch, something along those lines.
