Next blockbuster deal to occur?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to go with Bertuzzi and Cloutier to FLA for Luongo, Weiss and a prospect.

Bertuzzi has *reportedly* said to Canucks management that he needs a change of scenery, much like what Dany Heatley did and Luongo has been unhappy in Florida for a while.

Florida gets a star forward they can build around (Mike Keenan would love to have Bertuzzi) and Vancouver would get the number one Goaltender they have wanted for years.

Thoughts?

It's not bad. Looking at Bert early on, it didn't look to me like he was just into it. I am surprised Cloutier is in a Canuck uniform. I have felt over the last few seasons, the Canucks were a good team and just needed a goalie that can make the clutch save to put them over the edge. Cloutier hasn't been that guy. But I guess the Canucks mgmt. feels he's been good enough.

It's all speculation. But Luongo is a great goalie and MANY teams will be looking for his services.

I don't see it. If they dump Bert they aren't going to win right away and Auld isn't far from being the starter.

My only thoughts is that it will definetly be a big goalie trade. Luongo, Khabiboulin, Cloutier..

I'd say if the Pens start winning they might trade for a solid "younger but still veteran "goaltender who could carry them through the playoffs..but I dont think I'll be worrying about that too much <_<

Alot of these rumours come from Eklund, who seems to think Vancouver is going to rip apart the team. He had Naslund signing everywhere, but Vancity. He's recently rumoured Bert, Clouts, and Jovo, and undervalues the return. I can see Luongo moving, I think Montreal will make a move around the Olympic break.

My guess for Big name to be moved

Weight to Ottawa for prospects/picks.

i'm not sure will be moving where, but i know several teams will be making moves. obviously luongo is the biggest name. he said before the season that if he went to arbitration he'd want out of florida; and of course he did. i think the avs need him the most; dangling svatos or liles as bait. tampa might be a dark horse. kolzig is another that should go somewhere. probably plan B to whoever doesn't win the luongo insanity.

sykora, weight, witt, thibault (who would want him though?) are some others that i heard will be moved. i heard the weight to ottawa action as well.

I remember hearing about a Luongo for Theodore trade...that would be interesting.

That was preseason rumblings...rumours included Ryder goingto Florida...I doubt FLA will trade Loungo withint he East....I think he'll go West.

If there's going to be a major trade I wouldn't be surprised if it happens after Jan 1 and before the Olympic break.

I think that its going to have something to do with the Avs. Possibly Luongo, but something needs to change for the Avs.

Yeah but who would the Avs give up? I'm not sure they're willing to part with Hejduk/Tanguay/Svatos, though they might, somehow, someway be inclined to trade Joe Sakic since they've already stated that they won't pick up the option on his contract...

Sakic/Aebischer for Luongo/Weiss?

It would make sense for the Sens to acquire him later in the season in order to receive less of his overpaid salary which is what I've heard their thinking about doing.

and......

Fletch could I please get a source on these Bertuzzi rumours.

There were rumours of Liles, Aebischer and Svatos for Luongo or something like that.

That's a lot to give up...even if Luongo is going to be the best goalie of the next 5 to 10 years....

EDIT: I'm not an Avs fan, but I could see Liles as replaceable, but Svatos, no way.

The trade I "want" to happen (probably won't happen) is Jovanovski,Cloutier for Boumeister, Luongo. I would prefer that way more than dealing away Bert. He's just gotta get his confidence back like in his hattrick game. ;)

It's not a huge mistakefor the Avs to dump Svatos now when he is starting to play well. If he turns out to be the player alot of people think he is, then he'll command top dollar. Throw Hedjuk, Tanguay in there, Sakic and Blake will likely be around making a decent salary. It could create the same Problem Tampa will face having the "big 3".

I somehow can't see the Panthers dealing away the two cornerstones of their future for Cloutier and Jovanovski, as awesome as that would be...

Jovocop has a few good years left in him, but the sky's the limit on Bouwmeester, or so they say...

And well, Cloutier swapped for Luongo...no need to say anything.

Ever notice how Lacroix keeps the real players and dumps the guys who never seem to reach their full potential? Does Radim Vrbata or Bates Battaglia ring a bell? Skoula?

Fletch could I please get a source on these Bertuzzi rumours.

Well, there's this -

"There are whispers around the league that Vancouver is looking to move RW Todd Bertuzzi, who has been a bit of a disappointment this year."

"There are reports that the Kings are feverishly working to put a package together for Vancouver's Todd Bertuzzi."

http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/story/NHL_SC-RUMOR

And this -

"RUMOURS DU JOUR: The Canucks are listening to offers for RW Todd Bertuzzi. He makes $5.2 million but hasn't lived up to expectations. Bertuzzi is tough to deal because he has another year left on his rich contract and hasn't been the force he has been in the past ..."

http://ottsun.canoe.ca/Sports/Hockey/2005/...336411-sun.html

I saw it in a couple more articles but I can't find them now.... <_<
