if i liked the fit of both i would still go with the bauers. and i think the 8090s are lighter then the rbk's but im sure they are more durable aswell

The 8090 are a deep wide boot very stiff, honestly, I went from the 8090 to the vapor 30's and I think the 8090 is stiffer. my one pair of 8090 had about 20 hrs on them and not one crease could be found. my vapors have about 3 hrs. and already do. the 8090 by the industry standard is considered an elite, top of the line boot and has many happy customers. so I would have to say the 8090 for the money!

anyone know what's stiffer the vector pro/8k or the vapor xxx?

I was choosing between the vectors and the vapors and I think they are about the same. The only reason I got the XXX is they were a gift--I had the vectors reserved at B and R sports before I got the 30's

arnt the vectors and the 8k the exact same skate just different outer material?

The Vectors Pros and the 8k skates do have different outside materials, they also have different liners and different soles

Yeah, I find a lot of the time they don't know the specifics on a lot of products. Such as lies on blades, general skate fits, and how to size skates. I got fitted a half-size too big into my Vector Pro's, but am not too worried about it.

I had to deal with NBH customer servive when trying to find the right Bauer skate to fit me and I told them basically Most of the LHS don't know S!@T about the products they are selling and NBH customer service just shruged me off!! And I would'nt have a problem with that if XXX's were 100 bucks and stealths 50 bucks but we are dealing with Big bucks and now hearing that one90 is MSRP for 600.00; "come on". It is bauers resposibility to educate the LHS about their products. after my hole ordeal I have documents from experts and fitting guides from ccm and bauer and would consider myself more of an "expert" than half of the local hockey shops around here! again Please exclude JR from this post --He has been my #1 source for all my concerns and problems and also alot of guys from this site.

it's not that the companies don't inform the shops about their products or give them information about it, but that most hockey shop employees and managers really don't care how much they know about the products. They eaither try to sell the most expensive stuff and give you some made up reasons for why it is better or they expect that the customer will already know what they want before they get into the shop.

not trying to say that the companies are going out of their way to give the retailer all the information they want, but that the problem is more with the LHS workers ad managers and not as much the companies

Both skates are excellent products. Great fit and durability and very light. It depends on what fit you like. I would definitely pick the RBK 8K because I'm a CCM kind of guy. You may have a different preferance. You won't go wrong either way you go. I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for those Vapors though, no durability. But Bauer got it right with the 8090's.

Oh, Don't get me wrong I totally agree The LHS around here for the most part are wortless and just give you a line of bull. but I could'nt beleive NBH response after I told him about are local hockey shops not being knowledgable. witch is why I am on my 4th skate in 2 months.

I have the 8Ks and they are a top of the line skate quality wise so far, certainly as good or better than my G3s and Pure Flys. They are stiffer than the two skates mentioned previously but I have no idea how they compare to the 8090.

Don't shy away from RBK because they are unestablished in the market because they do have quality products. The best advice is to go with what fits your foot and if both do consider factors like stiffness, holder, look, etc.

I'ver worn both, found the 8090 to be lighter and more responsive.

To me the 8k and the original line of rbk skates had nothing spectacular going for them. In fact, after i wore the 8k i put on a pro tacks, and to me the skates were identical.
