Just got blisters

Recommended Posts

I just got back playing hockey after the christmas break and i had training yesterday and an open muckaround session today. Yesterday in training we had a mainly fitness session meaning lots and lots of hard skating and today was just a bit of a skate. So i have 2 big blisters on the heel of each of my feet :( . I was wondering if this is just because ive come back to playing hockey after 2-3 weeks and gone straight into heavy skating or maybe theres something wrong with my mission 7500 which ive only had for just under 2 months and only experienced minor rubbing from in the early stages.

Dude "no offence" but blisters are pretty normal with newer skates, have you never had this problem before? If not did you think of searching for it before posting? I understand this is a Hockey Forum but creating new threads all the time instead of searching for topics, just cloggs up the forum when people do try to search!!

I agree with the rest blisters are part of the deal....But if you want to do something that may help...get a pair of thin skate socks...lots of people carry them, they are basically tight fitting thin socks that wic away sweat like under armor shirts etc...They help me alot.

Maybe try 2 pairs of socks?

Bad idea.

Why not? A thin drifit or polyesther one under a regular cotton sock is great. I've never had blister problems with that setup when playing tennis, which is way worse than hockey for blisters.

Im with jackel...I wear the thin socks and then a cotten pair over them and it works out for me, but everyone is diffrent and ya gotta find what works for you.

I got blisters even after my third year playing, but then-- I developed (what my dad calls) Callases. Like hard skin where blisters would usually occur. If you look at most hockey players feet, they will have harder skin on the outside of the big toe, on the back of the heel, and possible a little bit on the outer foot.

Another spot is on fingers from tying skates.

When I did get blisters, I would go to any gas station and pick up some special blister band aids that feels like its not even there. Its about $5. Call me a wimp but Ill do what ever it takes to make sure Im at the top of my game.

Well i have blisters before alot but this is alot different on one of my heels the blister is so deep that its cut through so you can just see flesh so its impossible to skate and the other foot is has a pretty big blister too, ive tried blister plasters with bandages over them and 2 pair fo socks and its still really painfull and i just thought it was unusual that the blisters come now and not earlier on :(

ur lucky

i got the 7500's too

first practice

i didnt even get a blister

it went strait through and ripped a hole in my skin

both ankles bleeding like hell

and the inside uper part of my left foot is just a hole in the skin?

lol

but i wear 2 heavy duty socks now

and they dont get bigger but it hurts like a mofo

i thought i couldnt skate either

get blister pads

put bandage on top of that

hockey tape on top of that

and a heavy duty ski sock

that should do it

so idk

breakin with my own feet(pain) vs. baked (chance of getting them screwed up)

i baked a pair of VSI teams once, and didn't like the turnout as much as natural ol' time break-in. It hurt (I didn't ever bake my wicked lights, and everyone knows how stiff those were) but felt better over time.

Not to sound like an a-hole, but give me a break. Stiff skates=difficult break in. NOT blisters = manufacturing defect. Even though you have been playing on those skates for 2 months, i somehow doubt that you put them to the test that you did during your day of hard skating. Trust me...im breaking in a pair of 9500's right now. at night when you are asleep put the blister healing pads on, or some nu skin, re apply during the day, and when it comes time to skate LUBE THAT SH*T UP!!! Load it up with neosporin or bacetracin, cover it, and wear a THICK pair of socks until they heal. Once they heal go back to normal, im sure by then the skates will be broken in. It worked for me. I played TORHS this weekend with 2 blisters on each side of my ankle and thats the only thing that got me through it.
