Man I agree, I couldn't stop laughing on those. He must have said "score goals" 47 times in the first one. Good stuff and I love watching the kid play. Ray Ferraro said today he's without a doubt the Calder winner as of right now. I guess we will see.

startin' to pull away points wise as well. He is 9 points ahead of crosby right now with the same number of games played. He is also only an assist behind crosby. So much for the knock on him that he needs to work on his passing. Not saying he is a great passer, but being able to have 29 assists on a team where your second leading goal scorer has 11 goals is saying something. Oh and being a plus 2 is not to shabby on that team eaither.

Well, lucky for me you can't throw things at me through the computer.......

Let me just start by saying that AO is the real deal and he is a GREAT player. Now with that said, for God's sake show some class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn near every goal the guy does his little "race around the end/ half boards", jump up and down like he just scored the OT 7th game SC goal, make his team mates skate after him to congratulate him, ect.... Was it not Brett Hull who said something like "Act like you scored before and intend on doing it again"? Grandstanding (for a every day goal) is just uncalled for. I think it takes away from the play/ goal/ game. And while I am on the subject..........his goal against Phoenix was not all that original. It happens every (if not more than once) year. ;)

Brett Hull is a fat retired piece of crap, A-O is the man. Your argument is MOOT.

That's the best you could come up with? Come find me when AO scores #742. I am going to guess you are not old enough to remember when Hull was scoring at will.

Hull kept his antics OFF the ice. Anyway, this aint about him. I know you young guys are about the flash and not the substance. Bling bling :o

No, because this argument will be riddled with hypocrisy. You mention people should "celebrate" the Hull way, but off the ice Hull was a complete jackass. Sometimes he'd say the things everyone wants to say, but more often than not it was him just spouting off.

And I'm not going to pick AO over Crosby over "flash or bling-bling;" I pick AO over Crosby because he's exciting to watch. Never saw a sniffle of a game of either of them before the NHL so I don't have any reservations between the two of them. After over half-a-season though, I can easily side with preferring to watch AO over Crosby, let alone the off the ice crap Crosby seems to pull. To me, he's going about it all the wrong way, like a prima donna. Almost...Hull-ish, so I can see why you'd prefer him over AO.

Well this was a short trip. Thanks for the avatar Theo. Not going to argue. The Hull example was for post goal celebration (only). AO needs a little humility. Period.

Brett Hull didn't like playing hockey. He wishes he was on the PGA tour. He should go walk out on thte team USA practice again.

A-O has a passion for the game that is displayed in his celebrations and the way he plays and I think he should be admired for his passion, not knocked. You guys are like the coach who tells his players to show some enthusiasm during the games, yet screams and swears at his players to get off the ice after practice when you still have extra ice.

I'm not questioning Hull's ability, I just never liked his style and prefer to watch an Ovechkin type player.

I think ovechkin just puts so much into every play that those celebrations just come out.

So long as he's not shooting invisible arrows and riding sticks when he scores its perfectly acceptable. Imagine how morose the league would be if every player who ever scored a goal just skated back to the face off circle without even a smile......"woo"....."hoo" .

That 20 year old russian kid is workin' his ass off on those rinks every night and deserves to put his arms in the air.

also I'd say he IS acting like he has scored before cos its basically the same celebration after every goal

and I would guarantee that he does intend to do it again and would guess every single player in the league is positive on that one.

To be honest, if you look at Ovechkin's total game there is a lot of substance to his game. Yes, he scores some highlight reel goals(is that bad?), yes he turns the puck over at times, but he plays hard in all three zones and seems to love everything about playing in the NHL.

I could see if he only celebrated his goals, but he is excited every time his team scores. Even myslef, a die hard caps fan, didn't want to beleive that a star NHL player could really love to play the game and enjoy everything about playing a game for a living, but A.O. has shown me that a star player can still act like a kid on the ice, and respect the game and it's fans off the ice. I hope the league figures out what it has in A.O. and markets him like then should.

I think doing it for every goal in the context he does makes it irrelevant.  Yes, a tap in or empty netter doesn't deserve a huge celebration but he is doing it for all the right reasons.  As long as he doesn't pull something like crest showoff I am pretty sure he did against the US in the '05 WJC semi-final I see no reason to nitpick his celebrations.  It is part of his personality and it's almost as if he doesn't know better, probably one of the reasons people are so drawn to him beyond being an awesome player.

When AO played against the Stars a couple games ago, their announcers brought this up... how he has COMPLETELY changed from the WJC. They alluded to his antics back then (in great detail) vs. how he's grown now and what he does and says. No doubt a lot of people around AO has had something to do with it but what counts is how he carries himself NOW.

The celebrations are still there and you can tell the excitement is authentic and anything but taunting the opponent. As mentioned before, even when a teammate scores he celebrates... last time he almost knocked Willsie down going over to hug him. The kid does work his @$$ off on every single shift.. it's truly a sight to see and I don't mind watching him go nuts once it pays off.

I guess I overdid the celebration thing with AO. You guys are right, this kid is a phenomenal player, who loves the game. Now, if only Crosby can stop doing the crap that he does now. It's only time before he gets hurt...no one seems to want to stand up for his crap he pulls, whether it's a teammate (Recchi has been known for his anti-act against Sid the Kid) or coach.

I wanna see Hatcher or Forsberg lay a real nice hit on him tonght. Teach him a lesson about his attitude

I guess I never really got over his shitty attitude during the Juniors last year. Like I said, I don't want to argue.

I was in the same boat until I saw him play in-person during the preseason.
