Looks like some kinda of beer league gone out of control....If Im paying to play and some one attacks me, they are getting the shaft wrapped around the dome hands down....I have said it in a previous post if your not getting paid to play there is no place for a fight on the floor, there is just nothing to gain and no point...of course we dont know what brought all that about, the kid might have done something to deserve it.

They won't even playing, it was just in the period intermission. Guy most have been thinking about it alot... sitting on the bench for soo long, then deciding to go on the pitch, probaly just got tired of waiting for the game to resume so he could kick that one boy's ass.

Most of them were kids....

My last game I godt assaulted from behind with 1second remaining. Finished my (clean) check on a guy, who appearantly was just waiting for an excuse to drop his gloves.

Finished the check turned my back on him and started skateing up the rink, then a moment later I feel a arm around my throut dragging me down from behind. He Littery tried to choke me...

We had 2 games that day, and didn't want to be suspended for the 2nd one, so I lay still and waiting for the Ref or somebody to remove him... nothing happended for like 30-45s while he was choking me, until one of my teammates came racing from the bench and removed him. Got a cut lip and a huge mark where my chinstrap had scratched my neck.

The Ref gave me 2min's for boarding and the the other guy 2mins for Roughing while my teammate who stopped the "fight" got a game misconduct and a 1-game suspension.

Probaly the worst call ever in a game I've played.

Theres a difference between fighting and reacting like a moron! Nothing wrong with fighting to protect yourself, something seriously wrong with suggesting using ones stick across someones head!

I know the rule about the 3rd man in, and that's fair enough, but the other guy was mental and he only get a meaningless 2min roughing penalty with 1 second left... that's the terrible call imo

You are right. I should have qualified my statement a little better. There is nothing to say the people being attacked were willing participants. The only way fighting should happen in hockey, in my opinion, is when two players square off and agree to fight.

If you have the whole damn team jumping over the boards and coming after you, what are you supposed to do, especially when you don't want to fight? I'm not saying you hit 'em with a stick, but what are you supposed to do?

I disagree. If the refs are not going to do anything to stop some mental case who's assulting another player, then someone has to. The same damn thing happened to me once... I was battling a guy who was trying to get out from behind the net to the crease area and I lifted his stick and played the puck into the corner. When I turned around he just started wailing on me from behind. I turtled so as not to get creamed and/or suspended (big mistake) and the ref stood there letting him beat on me and yelling at him to stop. Finally one of my teamates came over and wrapped him up and only THEN does the ref comes over and intervene. So my guy gets a major and a game for 3rd man in when all he was doing was breaking up a fight (if that's what you want to call it).

If a ref can't ever use some common sense or better judgment and isn't willing to intervene in an altercation he shoudln't be giving penalties to those who do and probably shouldn't be reffing at all.

Any ref who is unwilling to intervene in that type of situation should never work another game. If both players are willing I will back off and let them go. If it is obvious that one player is not able or willing to respond, I will do everything I can to break it up even if my partner isn't there yet. I have no respect for officials that only do part of their job.

Bobbyorio...you obviouslly missed my point there, I was simply trying to get across how STUPID it is to fight someone in a beer league game, and going back to the old post, really any league your not getting paid to play in...That video looked like some teenage, college age kids who just wanted to prove their manhood or whatnot...And lets face it arent 99% of all beer league scirmishes just someone who got all bent out of shape cause he got wacked to hard, or someone keeps yapping at them, so they gotta prove their manhood...Im just sayin if Im payin to play and gotta get up the next day and go to work, Im NOT fighting you(Im to old for that shit) and if you dont want to hear that and keep coming after me, your getting my stick at least across the nose....Maybe you can understand that, so bobbyorio make sure you read and reread a post so you understand it and whats being said before ya just start posting some nonsense....Ill make it a little clearer for you....I WOULDNT WRAP MY STICK AROUND ANYONES HEAD....

Well, if I had an aluminum stick and was strong enough to simply bend one, I'd wrap it literally around someone (you know, like tie it) if they attacked me.

Or jab them in the gut if there was no reason they were attacking me.

However, if I agreed to fight, it'd be gloves dropped and a quick headlock.

WOW...when was that?....That was awsome....It reminded me of back in 70's-80's when bench clearing brawls used to be the norm...although I guess no one came off the bench, they did eventully get empty...lol ....good work
