PH_Hockey2 4 Report post Posted January 23, 2006 I wonder if the holders would be mounted right if you order custom skates form Bauer. I mean if I was laying down 600+ for a pair of custom skates I would be pissed if they where mounted wrong. But they are custom and hopefully Bauer would take time on that. Project_2501 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2006 Well, they are customs, I don't see why they couldn't do that. Or have them ship the holders un-mounted and have them done by the same guy who did the current ones for you.
JR Boucicaut 3803 Report post Posted January 23, 2006 They can. They are putting 3 mm heel lifts on mine.

Tru-Dat...But unfortunatley the rumor around the rinks is 1 more year of the Vapors so I might just go to Graf. I like the holder they claim to make a skate for every foot I would just have them move the blade and profile. I love bauer but I like to know that the skate I like will be around. I might buy Another Vapor30...will see. With all my problems The vapors now work for me so it pisses me off to think they are going to stop making them. Project_2501 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2006 They'll just come out with a new Vapor. They wont discontinue it completely; that would be a disaster for them, as so many people like the skates.

Jimmy_Wolf 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2006 To get a custom Bauer skate I would recommend going to a First Line Dealer. Those guys have had a personal training on what can be done, and how to make recommendations as to what to customize. Some other retailers can do it as well, but the FLD are the easiest way to go.As for the customized radius, to my knowledge, Bauer doesn't do it. It's always better to have it done by a good skate sharpener.Concerning eyelets pattern, you can't get everything you want with the Vapor or One90, as the quarter packages of those skates aren't as flexible in modifications as the 8090/8000/7000 skates. Those older models are still available in custom, just like the old Vapor 10.As far as the price, in Canada it's about $120 up charge retail. So in the US, $65 may be at cost, while retail upcharge may be a bit more.Other changes you can have are:Liner (grip liner or hydrophobic leather)Outsole (full composite ot 3/4 composite)Tongue (molded, felt, longer, plastic insert, foam insert, or both, or none)Stiffness (0, 1, 2, 3, 4)Add stiffness in specific areasCustom widthCustom length to 1/16 of a sizeRunners (perf, solid)Holders (Lightspeed, TUUK Custom +, ICM)Desaxed ankle bones customizationEyelets pattern customization on some skatesAmount of foam in skatePre-punch for bone spursEtc.
