Started back in the early 90's. First real games I remember were TO vs. LA in the 93' palyoffs. BTW... I deleted your double post.

On and off during the last Oilers Cup and the Flames cup win a year later. Regularly when the North Stars and Pens were in the final. I saw the whole Minnesota vs. Blackhawks and the whole Finals series and from then on watched every game I could.

Really started when I was in high school. My girlfriend was a huge Rick Tocchet fan and her parents had Prism (local pay channel).

I'm the first one who admitted "before 1970", black-and-white TV in French. My mother's favourite player was Jean Beliveau.

I've been watching since the day I was born. I recall being at a game at MLG vs. the Devils where I had trouble seeing over the person infront of me. It was a few years before the Burns/Gilmour era, so I estimate around 88/89.

So I'd say around 4 is the first one I vaigly remember.

I was born in 87 but I remember sitting on the floor in the living room with my dad watching the pens back when they were good in the early 90's. I remember watching barasso and wregget and such so I voted 90-95.

In 96-97,my favorite team was the Mighty Ducks and my favorite player was Joe Sacco. The next year was my first year ever being on an ice rink and later that year I played hockey for the first time.

My age also puts me in the "before" 1970 category. Orr, Bucyk, Westfall, Sanderson, etc.

I had the "Bobby Orr" lunchbox / thermos set.

No, they both broke when I was still in elementary school. They were yellow / white, with Bobby Orr posing with all his trophies.

I had a Bobby Orr poster with him posing with all his NHL trophies, too. It was really, really wide.

Thanks for deleting my double post! I have never run a poll before so I wasn't sure if it was posted.

I go back to NY Rangers in 68, when they moved into the "new" Garden. Giacomin, Park, Gilbert, Ratelle, Hadfield, Tkaczuk, Balon, Fairbairn, Villemure, and the rest from the early 70s. I remember the one year Terry Sawchuk was the back up goalie for NYR. I saw him play a game at MSG vs Toronto with Johnny Bower in nets!

Watching the hated Bruins was also a big passion. Boston was so strong with Orr, Esposito, Hodge, Bucyk, Cheevers and the rest. I would give anything to watch Bobby Orr again in his prime.

Thanks to everyone who responds.

I'm 28 years old and my first hockey memories are watching Bernie Federko, Brian Sutter, Joe Mullen, Doug Gilmour, Rob Ramage, (and later a very young Brett Hull) play for my hometown St. Louis Blues.

I really got into hockey as many people did during the 1993 and 1994 playoffs and that is the best thing that ever happened to me because it inspired me to start playing the sport....well the wheeled variation anyway. :P Back in my old room at my mom's house there's still posters on the bedroom wall of Gretzky, Shanny, Hull, Al Iafrate, Adam Oates, Pavel Bure....and my favorite poster: Manon Rheaume!

After I started playing, the group I was in held a random hockey pool for the playoffs. You put in $10 and drew a team name out of a hat and if your team went to the finals you got 1/3 of the pot and if your team won the cup you got 2/3 of the pot. I got Dallas in 97/98, and I started watching hockey. They were defeated early on that year, so I didn't win anything but I did learn the guy's names and since then they have been my favorite team -- although they've traded off/lost pretty much everyone except Zubov, Modano and Lehtinen. I did get to enjoy their win the following year! (But I didn't have their name so I didn't win squat.)

Going to see them in Vancouver on March 11!

I don't remember the games or teams, but every Saturday night in the early '70s I'd be in front of the TV with my dad, eating chips (anyone remember the big paper foil chip bags with the two skinny bags inside?) and drinking Pepsi. I was allowed to stay up to see Peter Puck during the first intermission, then it was bedtime. I would have been 3-4 years old.
