Putting T-blades on Kor skates

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a pair of Kor skates and love them. However, I have used t-blades for the last year or two and want to put them on my Kor skates. Not everyone sharpens skates in my area like JR. Just wondering if anyone has put t-blades on Kor skates before and if so what were the results/complications/tricks?

Let's put it this way, to change the holder on the Kor requires a complete helicoil kit and LOTs of labor. It's not going to be $1 per rivit like conventional skates. I haven't figured what I will charge yet, but it's not going to be cheap.

Honestly, you'd be better off getting a second set of steel and mailing them to a competent sharpener, and rotating them by mail...that is if you don't have a decent sharpener near where you live.

I think it would be bad b/c you couldn't get the t-blade holder flush with the boot since the outsole is the way it is. If you think the t-blade holder is flexible when it is flush, it is a wet noodle when it isn't...

Have you tried it yet? Do any of the holes line up?

I foresee it not sitting flush on the sole.

As everyone mentioned above, you'd have to pray that the holes line up as the mounts are physically built into the skate and you can't re-drill since the liner is sewn into the boot.

BUT.... why would you bother? The pitch holder is probably the best holder on the market. It's like putting some of those obnoxious rims that stand 12 inches out from the side of the vehicle on a lamborghini. It's just not right.....

It is different b/c the insole of a Kor skate is intigrated into the boot unlike traditional skates. So you don't have access to the rivits from the inside of the boot. The holder is attached via screws like Graf skates.

Like Jimmy said it would require a new helicoil kit and lots of labor. I don't know what a helicoil kit is, but I know traditional riviting looks problematic at best. I haven't had time to remove the Pitch holders yet to see if the T-blades will line up. Doesn't look like it, but I'll let you know. Just wondering if any one has tried it either in a shop or at home.

As far as the looks of the T-blades goes, I have a far more practical use for the holder. I use it as a coin machine where I keep my beer money. Besides, the t-blades will compliment the sequenes and pink fur tail I have trailing off the tendon guard. ;)

Does KOR not make custom skates (different holders like in the video)?

The video was filmed while they were testing different holders on the skates. You can only purchase the Kors with the Pitch holder.

Vince told me they were getting that video off the web site because of all the folks that wanted different holders on their skates.

The Tuuk C+ and Easton RBII will fit as the holes are the same as PITCH.

The others..nope...

You are correct sir! Tried it, holes don't line up, and I'm not willing to mess with such a fine skate. I guess we can add this to the data bank of MSH misc. knowledge.

Funny, I wanted different holders on my Kors as well. I thought you could custom order holders from the video.
