I'm rioting...

The Flyers fought back really hard during the 3-2 win against the Rangers, I thought they deserved that win. It's a shame they lost last night, being that tying goal from Sykora did not look like a goal one bit, and that they lost Therien and Nedved.

But all-in-all this is sad. They're 3-9 in their last 12 games, and this is the 2nd time in a week they've been shutout (TMB, MTL). They're starting to look like my travel team out there when we play teams a level higher than us.

If they get it together next week, with their schedule being NYI, WSH, and OTT, they should be good coming back from the Olympic Break. With Forsberg maybe returning for the game against the Islanders, he should be able to help out Gagne, who hasn't been doing much lately. I think the Flyers are relying too much on Peter, which is why they're pushing for him to get back soon. Peter doesn't make the team, he makes everyone better. Everyone needs to step it up this week coming up, or the Ottawa-Philly game will be a disaster.

Ken Hitchcock's press conference was two questions long, you can tell he's just a little ticked off with the way his team is playing.

its crazy what the absence of Forsberg does to the team. Even Gagne because he has only 4 goals in 15 games with Forsberg out of the line up. They need to kick it into gear because this $hit is getting old

This should qualify Foppa for the Heart pretty easily. I think he is the MVP of the league, look at the players on Philly but they all fall apart without Foppa, hell of a hockey player that guy.

I agree with those statements made HockeyDude and Dan...but Foppa shouldn't have to produce all the offense. It seems the only one that really does anything without Forsberg there is Knuble. Knuble's been on fire. I really think the Flyers need to decide what they're going to do with Primeau. Love him as a player, but the fact that he's missed this whole season before and may miss the rest too, the Flyers can't have him just sitting on IR. They'll need a good center that can rack up good points, to help even out the other lines. If not, the Flyers may be screwed.

I have to agree, from the stand point of a die hard Ranger fan, that Knuble played awesome last night.

On another note, if you watched Syckora's goal, it looked like it got tipped twice, once up and once down.

At least direction I believe it went off sykora's helmet and directed down and in

Shot from the point...of deflection, off Straka's helmet, onto Sykora's high stick

Montreal is a desperate, but healthy team with a goalie who's playing well (Huet). They hustled today. Philly looked tired and they have a pile of injuries to deal with. As a Habs fan I was happy to see them win, but realize it would not have been 5-0 if the Flyers were healthy and rested. Montreal needed the two points though and I'm happy they got them. Philly will be just fine when rested and healthy as they have a good team and a very good goalie if he's always as sharp as he was today - if it wasn't for him Montreal could've had four or five goals in the first instead of just the one.

I was watching the Habs-Flyers game on TSN today and I only saw 1 hat thrown when Ryder got the trick.

WTF!

Are the Frenchies too worried about their hair being out of place, they can't stand to lose a hat?

Montreal did play them 2 weeks ago with a healthy team and they still won, remember the 4 goals by Bulis.

It goes beyond that Theo. They handled injuries very well earlier on. Now that Foppa's out they've been hurting. You look at the roster and say with Handzus, Richards and Carter, they really can't be faulted for not having players to fallback on.

Ya you Philly fans seem to be forgetting the Flyer are looking more like the Phantoms right now and with all the star Phantoms form the Calder winning team already on the Flyers there isn't a whole lot to call up. Alot of the Phantoms are out with injuries to boot.

They also have to change the system for the top line when forsberg is in/out. He holds the puck so long that you have to play very differently when you're on his line. None of their other centers can play the same puck possession game.

Prucha got smashed in that game too. Stevenson was trying to nail him in the head with an elbow but "only" got him in the knee.

good thing for prucha it was only a sprain, rangers are having a tough time with knee injuries, prucha, betts, and rucinsky.. all sprains i believe, and all back in like 4 weeks, thats about how long rucinsky was out.. prucha cant play in the olympics, and now the rangers dont have two full solid lines.. some one like dominic moore will have to step up.. but this is a flyers topic about their injuries..

Why would any flyers fan pick this game to be upset about? They had a 5pm game on saturday, then travelled to montreal for a 3pm game sunday. Not to mention the saturday game went into overtime and they played a full line down for close to two periods.

While it was disappointing, I can't be nearly as upset about todays game then most of the last dozen. But injuries are a big part. They're missing their top 3 centers, two of their top defensemen and Pitkanen still isn't 100%.

I didn't get a great angle at the tying goal on saturday, but it looked legal from my seat. Was it not a goal?

They have been playing him at wing a lot this year.

Honestly, I don't know what they'd do if all the centers were healthy. But in the past Primeau has gotten more ice time than Handzus.

And Handzus hasn't been playing A LOT on the wing this year. He's been a great two way center this year and been excellent on faceoffs.

Being in the crease doesn't matter, but I thought he might have made contact with Esche during the tip. The replay they showed at the rink looked like he skated into Esche after the goal, but I couldn't really tell.

Kapanen did play today.... Johnsson should be on that list instead. It'd be nice to see Forsberg, Desjardins, and Johnsson back on the ice after the olympics. Honestly, I hope none of them tries to come back before the olympics.

And Therien being hurt isn't a bad thing.

Handzus has been playing on the wing a bit since Nedved came. Besides the Flyers missing Foppa the most, I really think they're also missing Primeau and Johnsson. Kim was their best defenseman before he got hurt, besides Pitkanen. When Pitkanen and Foppa went down, they (Flyers) knew that they were in trouble. It shows now, since Foppa, arguably being the number one player in the NHL, and definitely one of the best puckhandlers, is not there. Gagne seems to be the one that misses Forsberg the most, being his point total without him there, is not the best. As I said before though, Knuble has been on fire as of late, with or without Forsberg.

The Flyers rookies have proved themselves worthy of playing in the big show, specifically Meyer, Eager, Richards, and Carter, but still have room to step it up. After the Olympic Break, they should be good, depending upon if anyone else pulls out of the Olympics. I think Foppa should. It's an honor to play for your home country, and we know how dedicated he is, but he needs the time to rest, as did Kapanen, which is why he pulled out. They (Rico, Johnsson, Primeau, Foppa) need all the rest that they can get.

I would love the Flyers to keep Meyer and Eager, rather than send them back to the mediocre Phantoms. They may not rack up the points, but they are doing fairly well.

As for the goal, from all the angles I saw, side view being the most evident, it definitely looked as if Sykora hit Esche, and hit the puck with a high stick. I will stand by my decision that it was a no goal.
