I am so done with Bauer skates!

And the fact is they are not making the same quality products they made years ago. Lighter=less dependability.

That is so true... but why are they in such a race to make them lighter and flashier...

because thats what the kids want...

Why do you think Nike got into hockey, cause they saw a demand for the Nike style of gear and wanted to cash in. Hence we end up with all kinds of light weight , kewl looking junk that doesn't stand up to the abuse of the game.

Yes some of the gear has gotten better with the use of new material and designs but is it as rugged as the stuff we used in the 70's, 80's or even 90's?

As long as someone is willing to run out and buy the latest skate, pants or pads, the companies will keep turning out the stuff.

What needs to happen is a revolt of the players, a message needs to be sent to the corperations that we're not gonna buy something just cause it is flashy.

Hockey is not a fashion show!

Also... buy your gear from a local shop... these big box mail order places don't care about nothing but the sales numbers. I have yet to have and good service out of one of the big seller's. You might pay a little more but usually these shops have people that know something about the game, is someone you know, and will work with you if theres a problem.

Good luck with the new skates , hope this time something good comes your way.

I agree with it all and my current skates were bought locally.

The crap you went though with Nike/Bauer doesn't surprise me at all. Their still trying to palm off their Vapor line to ignorant general public. They've had problems with their durability of them from day one. I've seen numerous complaints and yet there are still dorks that refuse to acknowledge the fact. Wake up guys, don't buy them! Force them to make them right.

Agree? but Im going with Sven here, I think we need to calm down alittle lol things....are getting crazy.

...We have been told!

When paying this kind of money for skates we should all expect nothing but quality gear and great customer service, but i guess they care more about money than selling a good product

I want to add this. I have heard dozens of storys of people getting F!@#ed from not only bauer..but CCM,Graf ,easton and so on. Most the time even if you have a real problem with your skates you are put on trial from the company and the shop owner that you must not know how to skate or some BS like that..I have heard it all. And the fact is they are not making the same quality products they made years ago. Lighter=less dependability.

I have to disagree slightly. Please don't lump CCM in with Bauer. Not sure where you heard your stories about CCM, but as a store owner, I have had almost zero problems with QA on the CCM/RBK line, including Tacks, Externos, Vector and the RBK's. The skates are well built and QA is excellent. In the past two yrs, the only prob I've seen was the top eyelet ripped out on a couple of pairs and CCM gladly had it repaired. I don't even think it was a defect, rather abuse by the owner. As far as equipment problems goes, CCM just has me give the customer a new one if there would be any defect. They are pretty good at checking the stuff before it's shipped, and will mark them as seconds before they sell them to the LHS's. I sell a lot of their skates and if QA was a problem, believe me, my customers would let me know.

the shop owner took care of me Not NBH...They Never cared in the first place.

I am confused. Didn't you have a post a few days back where you said that because of their CS, you were a BNH customer for life (I looked, but I couldn't find it) ? Specifically, I thought I recalled that they decided to send you TWO pairs of 8090s for all the trouble you had gone through. Were both of them messed up or am I badly misremembering something or everything ?

Just wondering because if they cared to send you two pairs of another skate, it doesn't sound like they don't care; in fact you suggested that their behavior suggested they cared for you a great deal. None of which would take away from the fact that your experiences suggest something in their QA seems to be seriously messed up. I am surprised that you went with Grafs which have also been roasted here for their QA. Good luck anyways with those.

The actual shop owner took care of me he gave me two pairs of 8090. He was using the word warranty loosely. The only time he contacted NBH was the 8090 with the wood in them. And that is when he decided to just give me my money back.It took a few days to get the one pair of 8090's modified so when this happened I just gave back the 2nd pair. the owner told me this morning that he ate the skates he did'nt call bauer...I miss understood. I never got mad at the owner or nothing like that..It was his decision and felt it was time for me to wear a different skate brand and I agreed.

jimmy you are right I have only saw one instance were the CCM did'nt back up there product and to this day I was'nt really sure if my buddy was being honest..The rest of the stories with CCM I can't confirm either way so I guess I would say they are the "Best QC" company :P

You need to give that shop a plug here! Talk about a shop standing by and working with someone. To eat the cost of skates and all the labor and time spent dealing with your problem. That man didn't make a dime off this deal!

Its a shame the big boys and the mom n pop hockey shops don't get together and tell Nike to stick their junk where the sun don't shine.

Until they do Nike won't bother fixing their junk.

Business lesson for yous; It can take a lifetime to earn a loyal customer, and only a minute to loose one for life.

I actually ended up with Kor. Went to pick up my G5 today and the owner did'nt have them??? I said what about the pair I wore yesterday and put a 50.00 deposit on? (My bank was closed) He says somebody already bought them.....So I decided to try a skate that I heard alot about (KOR) a one size fits all and totally formed to my foot and now I don't have to take them to pro skate to get the boot modified to my foot. Just got back from JR's store he profiled them and sharpened so Im ready to go. I have to say that this skate is amazing.. the way it feels. It's a little low cut but won't be a problem. I mean it completely formed to my foot arch and all.

You put a deposit on skates and he sold them to someone else? I'm sorry but I wouldn't go back there after that.

And what makes it worse is he WAS a family friend.

An ex-cop that was partners with my dad.

Plus he wanted to charge me 575 u.s for them...he told me that this morning I thought they would be 475 to at the most 525.

Plus it was a very low cut boot and the KOR was actually higher up on my ankle.

So it worked out for the best. :P

Good choice with the Kor. I can't IMAGINE what problem you could have with them. If you have any, I suggest you just quit hockey altogether. :P

Or get a job as a product tester, guaranteed you'll find something wrong and they'll need to fix it. Not only will you be able to skate in 10 million pairs of skates year, we as consumers will get more durable skates.

Thats my wife's feeling, so these KOR's need to be the cats ass. But they are already one of the best skates I have ever put on my feet, Almost too comfortable. :P I will skate on them tomorrow so I hope they really perform, I spoke with warrior 37 and he loved them. I'll let you guys know.

Product tester...that would be great, cause' I would be getting paid.

Nope, I think it's bad luck! :D

I posted on the first impressions KOR, but i'll post here too.

I just got of the ice after 2 hours on them and WOW! I have never felt aything like these. No pains at all even the ankle pads were comfortable. Just break in aches. So comfortable and so much control. The low cut took 5 minitues to get used too and made my crossing over and stride easier. I had the pitch on a plus 1 but I had to change it to a "N" position and then I was good. Very responsive and weight is'nt an issue.( I can't beleive I just said that ) But my ankles do feel like I just worked them out. I will have to say that the pitch holder is very stiff and would perfer the NT3000 or LS2 but no biggy. And yes I think it is more stiff then the cobra NT 3000. so I would highly recommend these skates to anyone especially if you have foot issues like low archs, falling arch's or/and pronate...witch is my issue. And i would like to add this: (I just came from Vapor 30 and would say it performs just as well if not better.
