Bauer Vapor XXX Skates - Heel Movement?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have problems with their 30's and their heel moving around?

Both my sister and a friend have had Vapor 20's and 30's and they both said their heel moved in the 30's and they ended up going back to their 20's.

I've never seen this mentioned on here though. Does it have to do with the Clarino liner in the 30's? Or maybe it's because the 30's are possibly a little wider then the 20's?

weirdly enough, i did take notice of this the other day, even though i've had my xxx's for a year now and never really noticed it. I was skating barefoot, where i normally wear an UnderArmour sock, so i just dismissed it. I think you might just have to tie the skates tighter. Perhaps.

I've known a lot of people (myself included) who have had this problem. I taped my heel for a couple months and finally gave up and bought some flexlites.

My guess is the clarino liner isn't allowing you to lock your foot in place. The old liner in the XXs is grippier. Forbs - why the Flexlite? It's a wider heel.

It fit better all the way through the boot. I haven't had any troubles with them. I was a 4. 5 in my XX's, 4.0 in my XXX's, and have dropped to a 3.5 in my Flexlites. Maybe the half-size down made a difference but I tried a 3.5 in the XXX and there was no way they were going to work. I think the XXX liner was just too slickery.

A little off topic but would the heel of a (d) width be the same as a (EE) width.

A D skate will generally have an A heel, while the EE usually has a B heel. The A heel is more narrow than the B heel.

I think it pry does have alot to do with the clarino lining...I just got a pair of Pro Tack goal skates yesterday which fit great other than the fact that my heal moves. Dropping down a half size would have me crammed into my skates. Chad or JR, do you think it might help to bake them or am I SOL?

Wow, I was suprised to see this post. I literally just put a heel cushion in the back of my xxx left skate because of this problem. Only happens on my left though - I think my feet are different sizes. It isn't really noticable unless I skate two days in a row. I couldn't fit the cushion in my right skate without pain in my toes. Anyway, I will let you know how the scholl's cushion works out on the left.

It is a Dr. Scholl's cushion that went behind my heel. I played today and it felt weird so I ripped it out. My skate doesn't slide that much and it feels better without it. Worst case I will just wear thicker socks.
