Ovechkin's holders

Recommended Posts

he did spray paint them but maybe he taped ove the lightspeed part of the holder or it looks like its still there cause the ink that printed it was raised already so when he put more paint on, it was still raised

I think JR also said that LS2 Power wouldn't fit on any other skates.

No, I did not say that. I said that LS2 Power steel won't fit on LS2 holders.

Ok sorry for the mislead there. Sorry for that JR.

Vindicated? -- XAZ106050812_1024x768.jpg

If these aren't LS2Ps then they look like LS2s with a gold translucent holder instead of white. The highlights and shadows look to sharp and the local color (the overall color of the object) looks too luminous to be opaque plastic in my opinion.

As for style, goes well with the overall look of the flashy blue on the skates and his gold laces--better than black or red/blue holders to me.

they have the power steel so who knows .

It doesn't have to be the "power" steel, it can just be non-perf steel for LS2 holders.

I highly doubt Bauer produced translucent gold holders and didn't even apply their graphics to them. You can see there's no TUUK or LS2 or LSPOWER anywhere on the holder, which leads me to believe they're painted.

it has black at the top of the steel, like the power steel.

I wonder why he switches to the 652 from the 852/1052 for International play...

Good eye. It looks like it does and I didn't notice until you said that.

Lightspeed 1 steel also had the line, the Power are more like bubbles.

Oh. Didn't know that; so it still could be either one.

i garuntee that it is LS1 steel becuase he has the LS1 holders. The power steel "decal" goes down farhter, while the line on the ls1 perf. is not as big.

I agree that the "LS2 POWER" decal is not there, but if you're talking about these then I think the black on the blade goes down much farther than on Ovechkin's blades and to me it doesn't look like his blades are perforated.

i looked at it closer, and it seems it isnt perf steel. My mistake. It could very well be the LS2 power steel. But i dont see how it could be becuase so many NHLers using One90s have normal LS2s, so my guess they were low on supply of translucent holders with LS2 power. maybe the like AO better than everyone else

I'm still not sure what it is...but with the year O had, I could see why a company would probably listen if he wanted something. My interpretation was the older guys using One90s might be a bit weirded out by their clear holders (I am), like Niedermayer, or maybe they didn't see a need to go to longer steel. Maybe they'd make a switch to longer steel over the summer instead of tinkering too much with a good thing during the season. Who knows.

Is that the point behind the longer steel, to make it so guys can have a longer radius than on shorter steel? I was confused because I didn't consider they might be able to get a longer radius with the difference. How much longer is the ls2 power steel than previous?

Simple.

The only two sets of steel with paint on the blade is the old Lightspeed, and the LS Power. LS2's steel is not painted (perf and non-perf) and the old LS's paint wasn't in a continuous thickness like the LS2P is.

I'm liking the new gold holders...ovechkin's the man! I'm not diggin the old style CCM gloves and 652 helmet. He needs his vector gloves and the 1052 helmet back with the mirrored visor. <_<
