hockey books

I have the High Performance Skating for Hockey book and I think it's great. It has a ton of good drills in it. Definitely worth it. You can buy it on amazon.com used for $6.19. The only downside is that some of the drills are a little hard to envision, as there are usually only three pictures per drill. But they have a companion video, which I just ordered last week (should be here shortly).

I would also recommend Robby Glantz's skating videos, which you can watch on totalvid.com for practically nothing (rental fee of $3.99 per video).

I also have Laura Stamm's book & video, which are good, and Get the Edge with Audrey Bakewell. I would say of all the skating books I have, HPSFH is the best.

The book Im wanting is a motivational book about hockey. My coach said something about in practice about a year ago and I dont remember anything about it except that I would read it. It was a black cover with a the side of a face of a player with a helmet. it went from about the shoulder up and the stick was showing too. Coach said it really inspires players to get better. He read it before we went to the tourny>his pre-games were a little better ;)

I have the "Drills for Scoring" because I coach, and it's a great book for setting up team drills.

Also, when some buddies and I want to work on our shooting-off-the-pass etc. at stick-and-puck, this is a good resource to have.

"Hockey Tough"? I have "The Complete Player", which is similar and i think from the same author. It`s pretty good.

Reminds me of reading the Bobby Orr story when I was a kid. I also had a book about Ken Dryden and Tiger Williams. Man, I must be old! I remember loving those books and reading them over and over. I even hated Tiger until my dad got me the book and I read it anyway. I thought he was cool after that.

Finding some good books about current stars or guys from when you were a kid might help your motivation.
