Hex 1 vrs Vapor XX

Recommended Posts

I know that there are a million topics like this but I was wondering what blade would hold up better. I split most of my blades down the middle. I could get the vapor for cheaper but that wouldnt stop me from getting the HEX if it would last longer.

I had the hex and now Im using the xx max stick um. I liked the hexs feel better but the blade had its weak points. It seemed that the toe of the blade chipped within the first two weaks. I mean really chipped. Also the top of the blade had chunks comeing out with the foam sticking out. Now the XX has a very nice toe, very durable and nothings wrong with the top but the bottom of the blade is where all the damage is showing up. The hex never had a problem with the bottom of the blade along the ice. The XX is starting to split. I have to tape it about every four skates. Both are really good sticks but if I were to buy another stick out of those two I would go with the Hex. Even though I was really really upset with the toe chipping, it doesnt affect your playing as much as spliting on the bottom.

Are you positive you have to go with one of these two? What about Easton?

I've used both and they both seemed to chip really fast. If I were you I'd get the XX because even if the blade chips fast you can still remove the blade with heat and pop a new one in.

if you look there is a place that has hex-1's for $100 a think it was discounthockey.com

so i guess that would make the hex cheaper now

That thread went down, the deal went down. A companie posted up certain hexes with certain curves for $100 but we couldnt decide if there were only a few in stock or if it was a mistake. But now the hex's back up to $159. If your going to get a hex I might suggest waiting a little while till spring when Mission comes out with their new sticks so the hex's price goes down.

Is the split vertical or hoizontal? I would think the hex core may help a little bit.

The hex core does help. I have a Hex-1 that I've used off and on for a few months and it is chipped like crazy along the top of the blad and a little on the toe. The stick still performs like new and the blade is pretty much as stiff as ever. It doesn't look pretty, but I'm pretty impressed with the way it's performing. Excellent puck feel and the 85 flex is perfect.

horizontal, of course. I agree with Jason totally, the blade looked horrible but it was still a tank and therir 85 flex is perfect, but with my toe the way it was practically a saw the refs threatened to kick me out of every game i played with it.
