Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 You guys have no perspective.I'm 43-years-old. According to actuary tables, my life expectancy has now increased to around 85. That means, theoretically, for every second I've been alive, I can nearly expect to live that same number. For those of you who are fifteen, you're life expectancy isn't as high yet, but let's say you can expect to have four seconds for every second you've been alive. Now is it fair to say that the quality of life decreases physically? Maybe, but you guys are a far way from the downward slope. :D
kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 How do you figure out your life expectancy. I know there is an equation or something. This is interesting. Or, where can I find an actuary table for 2006 or whatever?

I laughed, but he was serious. As for you Kovy, yes it does, and I think about weird crap along those lines all of the time. Lately I've been wondering if my life is all just a dream, and I actually create my own reality I live in.
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 Do a search for "life expectancy chart." Here are two with slightly different information. This one shows the median (I think -- can't remember my math) number of additional years that Americans can expect to live at 60, 75, 70, etc.: Life Expectancy Chart 1The second shows how rates have changed over the years, and at different ages:Life Expectancy Chart 2In some ways, the information isn't contracdictory. The first is showing what half the people can expect, while the second appears to show everyone. Live a healthier lifestyle and my guess is you're more likely to fall within the first chart, barring accidents or genetics.

analog999 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 All I can say is one of my favorite quotes from fight club:"I'm a 30 year old boy."I turn 30 in August. I always told myself when I was in my late teens and early 20's that I didn't want to live past 50! I don't think that's true for myself anymore, but I do think it's all downhill from 25.. :)
gman 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 I don't think that's true for myself anymore, but I do think it's all downhill from 25.. :) It's only downhill if you let it. I am not saying my life is perfect, but I would not trade my wife, kids, mortgage and 12 hour rotating shift job for anything. Well,... maybe the rotating shift thing. Otherwise each year can be better than the last if you let it. Check out a publication called "geezer jock". I think the web site is www.geezerjock.com . They even have free subscriptions. It is all old farts doing stuff that alot of the kids on this forum might be hard pressed to do. There is life after 30, 35, 40 ( I hope) and beyond.
