What a bunch of dirty pricks. I don't watch many of their games so I don't have to endure Jim Hugheson, but I'm watching the re-broadcast of the stars - nucks on OLN now. Running the goalie a couple times, cheap shots, the refs are letting them get away with murder.

I just watched the highlights, I only saw Turco two-hand Burrows for apperantly no good reason then trash talk the bench.

Was the slash because of the Canucks being dicks, or were the Canucks dicks because of the slash?

Burrows was in the crease during a stop in play (everyone else was at center ice) and was smacking ice and snow at Turco.

what about modano's sucker punch to bryan allen that was uncalled

I assume Modano's helmet just jumped off his head for no reason at all? Both guys jabbed at each other before Ruutu cam in and grabbed Modano from behind. Allen and Modano should have gone to the box as well in my opinion.

Burrows was in the crease because he was clearing the snow away from the side of the net and when he came to the side turco was on turco gave him a shove then he retaliated and went to the box. He wasn't smacking ice and snow at turco

It was a good game. I enjoyed watching it since I was just at the dallas @ vancouver game on Saturday... almost just like a continuation of the first game. Even my wife got into it. Maybe teams should play back to back more often.

It looked to me like he was clearing snow from around the net - you know where goalies usually pile it up so it makes wrap-arounds a little harder. Turco was smart to be the first to do the attack ... usually refs who are busy doing other things won't notice the first jab, but they'll notice the second. Smart move by Turco.

And the Modano helmet coming off thing - he totally was punched in the face first.

The Canucks are desperate as they're quickly dropping in the standings. Only one line is scoring -- and that's the Sedins and Carter. The team is frustrated and it's showing with the undiciplined play. Finger is hovering over the panic button.

I wish I knew what Modano was eating for breakfast as he's been fantastic after criticizing the USA's Olympic Hockey Management. In his draft year Modano was #1 and Linden was #2. The way Linden is playing it looks like he was drafted #222.

regarding that, it still doesn't mean you can ignore the punch to the face.

They both punched each other, either they both go to the box or neither one does. Those refs were letting a lot of stuff go, almost back to the way it was called a couple years ago.

How about Trevor Daley getting in the first two fights of his career. He held his own in the first, but Ruutu gave him several good shots during the second. It was nice to see Daley stand up for his team mates. As for Modano and Allen, Allen started things by punching Modano, and Modano returned the favor. It would have ended there except Ruutu decided he needed to jump on Modano's back. That was a dumb penalty.

On a side note-White Powder found at Canucks Arena. Apparently someone is still mad about Bertuzzi.

As a Canucks fan my opinion may be a bit biased. But when Burrows was clearing the snow it was obvious that Turco gave him a chop. Both sides should have been called and the powerplay that resulted because of it gave Dallas a goal and then the game. But as they said on Sportsnet... there's no rule that says a goaltender can't build up snow on the sides of the net and there's no rule that says a player can't go clear the snow.

Actually Burrows's penalty offset the instigator penalty to Trevor Daley and the teams played at even strength. Turco is pretty agressive. If you mess with his space he will slash you. I am surprised that he didn't get penalty.

Rule 59 Handling Puck with Hands

A goalkeeper must not deliberately hold the puck in any manner which, in the opinion of the Referee, causes a stoppage of play, nor throw the puck forward towards the opponent's net, nor deliberately drop the puck into his pads or onto the goal net, nor deliberately pile up snow or obstacles at or near his net, that in the opinion of the Referee, would tend to prevent the scoring of a goal.

(NOTE) The object of this entire Rule is to keep the puck in play continuously and any action taken by the goalkeeper which causes an unnecessary stoppage must be penalized without warning.

The penalty for infringement of this Rule by the goalkeeper shall be a minor penalty.

I missed the game but as an old ref that Sportsnet info sounded wrong. I pulled this from the NHL rulebook on the web. The goalie cannot pile up snow around his net. The ref or linesman is free to clear the posts of snow at any time during a game.

I haven't been to a regular season game this year but most teams had people clear away the snow last season.

You are right, they still do. The snow bunnies skate out during every break or so it seemed at the game in Boston during Onegoal week-end.

About piling snow to prevent the scoring of a goal: in our ref clinic this year (BC), they said that this applied to the hardened snowdrifts the goalies used to build up inside the goal posts and squirt with water to form an icy barrier.

Burrows was definitely trying to upset Turco by clearing the anti-wraparound snow that Turco had been building up. So much grooming undone by a dumb forward!

I saw Ruutu hit Turco from behind on TV, and it looked like he was being ridden into Turco's back by Daley. He could have stopped, but since he is a fractious Finn...

They were out at the Dallas @ Vancouver game as well. Ott was checking out one of the girl's ass...

Didnt see much of the game but I have thought that the Canucks have been the dirtiest team in the league over the past 3 to 5 years. This is without the whole Moore thing.

I just wish someone would hand Ruttuu his head on a stick. In a eye to eye way of course :)

The Avs were a dirtier team when Crawford was coach. That seems to be the common link.

Seriously I don't understand how you guys can think the Canucks are so dirty. I watch them play almost every game and I'd have to conclude they are one of the weakest, most pussiest teams in the league by a long shot. 80% of their games they're outworked and out hit. What players do you guys consider to be dirty other then Ruutu and obviously Bertuzzi? Cooke barly does anything and the rest of their team is filled with heartless players.
