Best Pants

Recommended Posts

Sorry if posted already, I was wearing Franklin pants for the past 3-4 years and ripped out the bottoms last night. I hear that Tackla makes the best but with Rbk and now Bauer coming out with new pants which have you found to be the best all around for a power forward?

I'm using the new Easton ones right now, and have been using Eastons for the past couple seasons. Tried bauer, ccm, etc, but have always come back to easton.Great protection, fit, and the new stealths that are coming out have the best mobility i've used.

Im in the same situation as you A2rhino, im not in a rush to buy anything so im waiting to see the XXX lite pant. right know its between the 8k's, tacklas and the XXX lite. i have tried on tacklas and 8k's i like the fit of 8k's a little better with the girdle style but thats just my opinion. go to your LHS and try some on.

Tacklas have by far always held the throne. I have the 5000X pros and absolutely love them with the zippers. You can go into the locker room after a game, unzip the legs and take them off without even removing your skates. That is priceless.

If you're taking a lot of hacks, slashes and crosschecks in front of the net something like a Tackla 9000 that has excellent back and kidney protection, is something you should consider.

I used to wear a pair of pro bauer from the canucks, but they were too big for me, but I found a pair of Vapor 8's, and they are the best I have ever used. Great protection, light, and slim fit to give you all the mobility that you want. I find the Eastons too long.

i'd look at some tacklas or the new -92 series ccm pants, dont go with last years -52 series, go to your LHS and see whats up...as far as my personal preference im in some old old style ccm's great pants, and ive had tacklas too, id say that they're about equal, i tried some of this years bauer 4000s and they were a nice fit, just not much padding in the front stomach/groin area

Jofa 9500. There are a couple remaining on hockeymonkey in select sizes. Not seen them anywhere else on the net recently, but your LHS may have some hiding away some place.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. My local hockey shop is VERY limited to what they carry. The tacklas sound really impressive. Obviously you look to see what all the pros are wearing and Easton does seem to hang but I think I'm going to see what the new Bauer XXX are like. I'm not so worried about price seeing as to how you cant put a price on protection.

Thanks again, site is AWESOME!!!

I have tackla 9000. Great fit. I not all that happy about protection, though. I've talked to couple of other guys in the league that feel the same. Maybe it is that all three of us are older (fatter), but the padding in tacklas seems pretty weak. There is a very hard plastic shell on hips and plastic pieces in the tail, but the backing is very thin and feels like pillow stuffing. I've resorted to fitting some extra HD foam to save me the hip pointer and low back pain. My eastons were bulletproof and lite, but the mobility and fit were not nearly as good as tacklas. Check out the padding carefully, you will see what I mean.

East West hockey has a few pair of Pro return pants. Whats the differance? Do they just have more protection like pro gloves?
