Datsyuk Penalty shot on Vokoun

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has a "Downloadable" version of the goal Datsyuk scored on Vokoun.

For those of you who havent seen it, it was just a replica of the goal he scored on Marty Turco. But vokoun made it look 10X better lol :P

anyone else in the league can try that, and I garuntee that 99% of them won't do jack as far as deking the goalies.

I could try it, and I'd just look like a plug when the goalie makes the save.

I've used it in a game, on 2 separate occasions. You really have to get the goalie to bite when you throw your shoulder into it and open the blade to fake the shot, then you just cup the puck and pull it back, then pull the puck behind your hip and shoot...

Or just watch the video in slow-mo...

i was lucky enough to get a call an hour before the game started, and got offered a ticket. i have to honestly say, that is the best game i have personally seen in the Joe since the wings won the cup in 97. the game was back and forth the entire time, including the overtime, and the shootout.

and the place went nuts when Dat's scored that goal!

I watched a kid (bantam age, at the time) do that in a scrimmage at a hockey camp a couple of years ago (after Pavel did it to Turco). The kid just now finished his freshman year of high school and is rated as one of the top players in the state of Minnesota and the U.S. for his age. It was pretty cool watching a 12 or 13 year old pull off that move.

Actually Datsuyk was asked by Reporters after the Turco Goal, how he got the idea, and told that he "stoled" it from a guy he played with in Russia.

He saw him do it at a pratice, and started praticeing the move.

The same way all of us get most of our moves... B)

No, it wasn't Jordan, it was Aaron Ness from Roseau. I don't live in Minnesota. I went to an adult hockey camp in Detroit Lakes and there were half dozen bantam aged players there, at the time, from Roseau. We were short players to play in our nightly scrimmage and the kids helped fill out our teams. All of the kids were (and still are) great players but Aaron stood out in the scrimmage. I couldn't believe it when he pulled off that move. He looked just like Pavel and the goalie pretty much reacted the same as Turco and Vokoun did. I haven't seen Jordan play but I have read and heard that he's a great player. Didn't he score a bunch of goals last year at state, as an 8th grader?

that move is really good, especially done at that speed...

the guys on my team saw the clip, and we were all trying to do it during our normal sunday pickup game... everyone had to improvise I guess, since we werent used to dragging the puck back like that...

btw, there was a team who were waiting on the side of the court, and asked us to play against them... we did pretty well, especially since our goalie hadnt played for like 15 months, and the rest of us 'old guys' werent as fast...
