U of M Equipment Sale

Recommended Posts

I live right by the campus of the University of North Dakota. Do all universities have these equipment sales? Does anyone know who to call to find out?

my brother went, i couldnt make it. heres what he picked up:

a modano fibre+ woodie blade, a tps pro stock modano clone woodie blade, $5 for the two (never used)

20 rolls of cloth tape, 15 black, 5 white, $5

two pro stock synergy ST, Porter Pattern (lidstrom clone) $40 each, only taped, not used (mint)

one stealth cnt team usa Porter Pattern $80 (brand spanking new)

all the sticks he bought are 110 flex, also he got there at 8 and was pissed, said he saw guys leaving with literally 50 ops and what not, all and all not a bad sale

that was probably my brothers old coach and his friends, they got that at 1 p.m. YESTERDAY....little intense if you ask me. buying 50 may have been a little over the top.

i got a stealth grip sakic clone, 2 inno 1100 shafts (one with a moginly blade), 2 wood blades, and 10 rolls of tape for $200, which works for me haha

I went to the sale and got there about 8am after a hard night of drinking at a bachelor party. My friend is the zamboni driver for U of M and i was let in the back door before the majority of the people got in (sorry to all you who were waiting in line). I did see the two guys with brand new One90's and spoke with one of them and the pair he had didnt even fit his foot but he kept them anyways...

Here is what i got for $500 at the sale and i do have to say i am over joyed with what i was able to get and what the actual sale had to offer.

4 - Brand New Innovative 1100 grip OPS (rohlfs) $80

1 - Brand New Vapor XXX grip lite Team USA OPS (kovacarik or something like that) $80

Pair of Brand New Bauer Pro Stock (old school style, i wanted the XXX's) Gloves 14" $65

Nike/Bauer undershirt Black with grip elbows - been looking forever for one - $15 (regular 60)

15 rolls of tape - $8 (mostly plastic)

"Do you have these boots here in a 12?...When she comes out she's superoptimistic--now she's holding a boot--she walks right up to me and she goes, "Umm, we have it in a 9." "Really, do you guys also have a bonesaw anywhere nearby? Tell you what, just run at me really fast and just jam that sucker right on my hoof."

reminded me of Dane Cook, SNL, hilarious. I guess he can either sell them, give them to a friend or a sibling, or just look at them. At least he's got one90's for 150-bucks.

seriously thats funny. I should have grabbed them from him and just walked away, what they dont fit so your not going to use them. The worst was when i had informed him on the quality of the skate and he was like....oh really cool.

For the guy who posted the correct name (chad kolarik) thanks the stick was in my car and i didnt feel like getting it.

Does anyone know when the red wings sale is cause i figured i could out fit myself for the next two years in pro-stock equipment and never have to help profit Peranis...not like they carry anything worth while anyways (not one time do they carry a right handed blade that isnt a junior).

kingjames - just write out your wish list and give it to your girlfriend and tell her if she loves you to wait in the line and grab everything on the list...and nothing less.

if may make one comment about this sale and the red wings sale. I just played against a guy last night who obviously visited the sale as he was adorned with the same gloves I purchased a helmet (with the stripes) i assume the synergy was, and pants. But the problem i have is equipment looks great...but the player cant even stand up. I always love seeing these guys out on the rink or the locker room, you know the ones who are still pulling price tags off their equipment. You think they gotta sweet they have all of the best equipment but in actuallity when the hit the ice its like watching a 2 year old skate.

In my books, pulling price tags off of anything is a sign that the guy is not that good. You have to skate to be a good skater.

Or the "bambi" skater who has a nice pair of grafs and a Stealth, somehow thinking he's going to skate better and have an awesome shot.

Oh yea, for those who don't know, a "bambi" skater is a guy who looks on skates like a deer that was just born. :D

When i run across them on the ice i instantly turn into the lumberjack, and he is certainly going to get mouthed. I understand having top of the line equipment is nice and all but you better be able to back it up and play....or your going to hate every shift you play. I frequently give them the chop near their hands so they get scared i am going to break their stick or the poke behind the knee. Ever see their shots, awesome is all i can say.....why do they always seem to find the ice after they follow through. When the actually score even better its always the hard and high fist pump (usually with a loud yeah somewhere in between). I love this post turned into the pondrocket bashing cause its always a good time.

it doesnt bother me when older guys have nicer equipment, but it is humorous when kids aged 12-18 have mom and dad spend enough money to run a 3rd world country on their equipment. i read something funny in a golf magazine along the lines of "why not just spend the money on some lessons and range time rather than a new driver" what errks me is when the kids OHL age and what have you get their hands on the OHL or AAA equipment from around here and sport it during drop in or their A/AA league games, those are the kids id tap on the shoulder and kindly say "the only one youre fooling is yourself"

That's my point, this is the biggest hypocritical bunch of mush I've read in a while. Athletes (of course, a minority of those represented here on MSH), part of the "minor" sport of the big four (no matter how much we love it, it's still the lowlight of ESPN SportsCenter), bashing on players who can't skate. Those trying to learn so they can enjoy the ever-growing passion we all have. These are people who are joining the sport we all love and helping it grow, yet it's funny when they're just starting out.

Yeah, you're cool. Because of equipment. How can you back it up with only six months of public skate sessions? Here's an idea- take some English classes, it'll get you farther in life than worrying if someone has Jofa shinnies on.

"Or the "bambi" skater who has a nice pair of grafs and a Stealth, somehow thinking he's going to skate better and have an awesome shot.

Oh yea, for those who don't know, a "bambi" skater is a guy who looks on skates like a deer that was just born."Don't forget Jimmy, you own a store that helps distribute these high end goods. No matter the client, they're supporting the ice hockey equipment industry, aka your way of life. They stop buying, you go hungry. When I bought my gear for the first time, I came HERE, on MSH, to read reviews of the top equipment. Didn't have hand-me-downs. However, I was going to get quality equipment worth my dollar. I have a close friend who's had the same pair of Grafs for 17 years, and those Grafs were new at one time. Why not buy top of the line equipment? Why not make your money worthwhile and be able to use the same gear for several years? Did they take your money to buy their equipment? Didn't they go out and earn it to spend it how they please? Thank goodness for members like Warrior37 and AT01.
