well aren't they already the official outfitter with Reebok? Or does this mean everything will be rebranded ADIDAS?

likely no rush though, as the overall sale of NHL gear pales in comparison along with its lack of worldwide reach...not that it won't happen, but I don't think Adidas is in any rush

so we'll have another year of cheap jerseys? First CCM and Koho, now the one year old Reebok's? But the RBK hockey line would stay the same or would it go ADIDAS too?

The NFL is probably on the list before the NHL. The interesting thing is there are a lot more European players in the NHL and the player acceptance of the Adidas brand could happen a lot faster there.

Well, Adidas already had product in those markets, mainley at the collegiate level. That was their intent when the Adidas/Reebok aquistition happened. They wanted to use reebok deals to push existing adidas products. Hockey was something that they acquired and never wished to enter for the time being.

I know if Adidas comes out with a skate I'd jump on it. They used to make skates back in the day. I believe some if the Russians had them in the 1980's.

"Now me and my Adidas do the illest things, we like to stomp out pimps with diamond rings, we slay all suckers who perpetrate and lay down law from state to state..."

Yeah, it's not even so much for the adidas exposure, it's to get everyone to now go out and buy adidas kobe/wade/vc/iverson jerseys. Just like everyone did when the nike to reebok changeover happened

Yeah, and what was said about the NFL is probably right, that'll change first. The NHL will though, just probably not till the year after next.

well i dont know that we'll ever see adidas in hockey, even if its just jerseys.

for one, hockey fans and players are too loyal to brand names, and dont take change as lightly as others. The culture of basketball is all about style and having the newest shoe and newest jersey, regardless of who makes it.

but, adidas could... though it wouldnt make too much sense since they have nothing to push. The jersey labeling in the NBA is just a way for them to pimp their shoes. If we see NHL presence, all its gonna do is tap into a slight fraction of the NBH market and then tap into the RBK/CCM market. That little gain of some of NBH's market share isnt all that worth it. And with the brand loyalty and the innovations NBH has had (vapor line, One90) its gonna be tougher than ever.

Because they are an adidas school.

Exactly. I can speak in terms of the NFL, RBK was probably met with much more resistance than Adidas. People don't associate brands with subsidiaries normally. I can say RBK pissed off a lot of football players in the mid-90's with a very crappy product line. People in the sport of football were not receptive to that brand, and Adidas has always carried a fair amount of weight. Reebok never really rebounded until they started brand recognition in the NFL, and Adidas has a good rep- especially in shoes and clothing. Looks like Nike has a monster on it's heels.
