Easily the best game of the season. That was just incredible. He seemed to take the team by the throat in the first and just did everything!

I should have stayed home to catch this one on center ice and not gone to my abortion of a game.

Great performance by Mats and old man Joey New.

Too bad the Leafs aren't catching 8th spot, they actually look like a team finally. Don't you Leaf fans get tired of saying wait til next year?

Well after Sundin won the Olympic Gold medal this year, the sting of playing for a non stanley cup contender isn't that bad anymore.

Seriously, if Sweden hadn't won, the chances of him playing for another team would have been bigger.

"Leafs vs. Panthers, why is this leafs game not on?" Jeez, I think you answered your own question. Its Leafs vs Panthers. One team totally eliminated and one that if they get into the playoffs will be a first round sweep waiting to happen.

No one bit, but when you make an asinine comment based on one year, yeah someone's going to say something. In typical Ranger fan form, he's a deity this year after being an overpaid floater the rest of the tenure there.

Anyone could see why the Leafs haven't won with them. Anyone who has sadly watched the Leafs in the playoffs sees the line combos Quinn comes up with. Getting rid of Quinn won't be any immediate fix, but it'll be step #1.

Pulled a Jagr? No he, didn't quit on his team and pretend to be injured when he thought they weren't going to make the playoffs. He instead came out and put up the best single game performance this year. I saw the Jagr performance against Philly, both Niewy and Sundin were more dominating.

Typical Ranger fan form? Ha, the Leaf fans are the worse right behind the Canadian fans. Its so well known what whiners Leaf fans are, I don't even have to go into it.

isn't that kind of getting into it right there? ;)

Theo - Of course your talking about this year, I just thought I'd remind you of his past. We can talk about History all we want, Mats has lead the Leafs for almost a decade now and they've went deep into the playoffs on numerous occasions. Jagr has been the secondary man alot of the time on playoff runs. Mats knows his team and what they will respond to. Sometimes he jumps on them in public, sometimes he does it behind closed doors. To believe the team "thinks they are doing no wrong and they will not change their game for the better" is beyond stupid.

Oh wow, the "who has more Stanley Cups" argument is NOW valid when it pertains to Sundin v. Jagr, but when it's brought up in a Brodeur thread all shit hits the fan.

Jim Paek has rings from those teams. Bob Errey has rings from those teams. Kjell friggin' Samuelsson has rings from those teams. REAL elite crowd to be part of. Point being, Jagr didn't have to really do much for them. One year he's a rookie, has a decent showing, but Rex, Francis, Stevens and who's that one guy...oh yeah, Mario, those guys carried the team. It's okay, I'd hate Mario too when the only Gretzky I ever saw the the shitty washed-up one the Rangers got.

Well the reasons for going after Jagr is your trollish way of saying "he pulled a Jagr" and also because if we wanted to against someone you liked, Lindros is too easy of a target. Even I feel bad for picking on the handicapped.

The hate for Jagr is well routed in alot of people. The act he pulled in Washington was incredible. He was fairly lucky to have spent such a large portion of his career with Lemieux. Jagr's a great player, but I've this is the first year I've ever heard him called a leader.

A large reason the Leafs haven't made it over the hump is injuries, and not willing to spent that extra bit to get the players they truly need. It's funny because NYR took 2 of them one summer and missed the playoffs with them.

I know this happened when most of you were riding tricycles in the driveway but ask your dad about the moves Jagr put on in the Cup Final against Chicago in the early 90s when he zigged and zagged through 4 defenders inside the zone from the wall to the net before he left Belfour looking for his jockstrap next to Coach Keenan on the Blackhawks bench. Sorry, Eazy, those moves were not from a player making a "secondary" contribution during a playoff run. Just want to clarify that Jagr earned his rings. Check the video. He was not along for the ride.

Because the Leafs have always needed a secondary center, one who was capable of altering games, and they needed a defensive D-man who would intimidate other teams forwards. They lost a bidding war to the Rangers on both. That in my eyes was the "hump" that you alluded to.

As for the Jagr domination, I guess he's just been pulling a Yannic Perrault all season long, as he dominated a game on his way to a 4 goal perfomance too. Jagr's just a more consistant Perrault :)

I watched that series, I was just a little guy, but I remember glimpses from that series along with the Minny series. Notably when Lemieux made Casey look stupid. Was it Belfour or Hasek he beat in the finals though? I thought Hasek was in for Belfour for most of the Chi-Pitts series.

I never said he didn't earn the rings, but you cannot deny Mario was the go to guy on those teams. Jagr was second fiddle to Mario on every team they played together. He was a hell of a secondary man, but he wasn't the one everyone looked to, that was Mario.
