Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 fedex is good, but expensive Actually, Fed Ex Ground is generally less expensive in the US by about 10%-15%.
asdfa 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 i might be a bit biased, i paid $50 US for some nike shoes, shipping was $20 US (fedex priority international?), customs was $25 CAN, i am a little ticked off

cabreezy 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 I've had crap lost with everyone, but FedEx and DHL suck for leaving stuff at doorsteps. Yeah, this got me a little worried aswell. My hockey stick packages that come to my house are such ridiculously huge looking boxes, and what does Fedex do? They just plop it on my front lawn and leave, they don't even knock on the door or anything, thank god I was home during bothj of the times they delivered to me. freq019 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 I used to live in a 10 story hi-rise in a moderately ghetto part of town and at christmas time one year Fedex just left a package I had ordered outside the building by the main entrance, it was luck or random kindness that I ever got the package at all. I figured it was because it was Christmas and they were really busy and maybe the guy was a shortimer, because that never happened ever again.but to stay on topic my only beef with UPS is if they say you'll get it on day X you'll get it on day X even if it has to sit at the local distributor for 10 days. I don't understand why they won't just deliver it early.
analog999 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 All the carriers are much better in the US. I still don't understand why you canadians have to pay customs for stuff. We never have to pay for stuff shipped from you to us.
lando_8 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 Our government likes to tax us every chance they can! But UPS is brutal for US to Canada shipping unless the shipper will declare the value of package under $20 or mark it as a gift/sample/demo. UPS charges a "brokerage fee" where they collect the duty regardless of what you have purchased. Not all items are subject to duty, and some items don't have as high of duty as others. UPS is obviously making a lot of $$$ with this. My buddy recently got a Dremel off eBay...Dremel set was $60USD including shipping... $42 brokerage fee to UPS when it showed up to his door...you think any of that is going to the Cdn. Government??? domileafs28 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 ok heres an update... maybe you guys know of Toronto Hockey Repair co. they sent me my xxx gloves. they requested an adult signature, etc. so i was not there and i redirected the box to neighbors NEXT DOOR that are always at home. it takes UPS three days to take the box off the truck, redirect it, and attempt delivery again. well what do you know the neighbors are not home for this once. so i will not get to practice in my new gloves tomorrow :( maybe they will come on monday. What's wrong with the Hodgkins, IL processing center?Since I live in Wisconsin, pretty much every package that gets sent to me through UPS goes through Hodgkins, and I've never had one problem with any UPS package through that center. But I agree, I'll never send anything UPS, they rip you off terribly. USPS Priority Mail is the shit.
jibby93 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2006 fedex is good, but expensive I have only used fedex once and the one time that I did they lost my stick and it took them about a month and a half to get back to my 20 e-mails I sent them!

USPS Priority Mail is the shit. Well it's one of those...I heard from ___ and ___. But basically, a ton of people have had experiences (mostly people on other boards who sell stuff) where their package gets to be processed at Hodgkins, and then disappears and never arrives. Some speculation that if you mark the value at $0 your package, or leave it blank has a good chance of disappearing cause some might take it with no worries since the value was 0 and UPS don't gotta replace it. I'm trying to find the link to this whole thread....not having luck right now though.
golfpuck 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2006 if you must ship to canada via ups or fedex.if you ship by ups 2 day shipping for fedex 2 day shipping, the brokerage fee is $0 (zero), so you only pay the pst/gstso you pay an extra $15 for shipping instead of paying $40 in brokerage fees.ground shippments do not include brokerage.shipping express or 2 day express cost more, but the brokerage fee is included in the shipping fee
