Brightest...stick...ever....

Recommended Posts

Well, I was looking at buying a new stick, but seeing as my birthday is on Sunday, two of my guy friends told me to wait and THEY bought me a stick.

It hurts my eyes, but its sooo freaking great. I laughed when they walked in with it. Seriously, it's horribly bright. BUT it has the curve I want and the right flex. So it's all good.

Sorry about the quality, I took it on my phone.

Its an Elias curve, I kind of have the stick on an angle, hence the odd looking curve.

Is that one of the pink Mission sticks? Nice of your friends to get you a stick. What's impressive is that they got the right curve and flex.

Hi Ti-girl

is this Elias a retail curve? the pic is a little small but it seem that the curve is allmost straight with a neutral face?

Yeah its a retail Elias curve, though, like I said in the post the stick is kind of off centre because I was trying to balance it.

It has an open heel-ish curve.

TI-girl are you going to have to cut that?

I have a 75 Elias RH Hex-1 and I've taken 2 inches off it, and I think I'll have to take another 1.5 off. I'm afraid a total of 3.5 inches makes it close to a 90-flex. I'd rather sell or trade it away than cut it again. Remember these sticks are before companies considered the cut-down factor and made their int. sticks 65 flex. Although, people say Mission's 75 feels like an Easton 70. What does it feel like to you?

No I dont have to take anything off the stick. I'm tall so it works for me.

I've used different missions before and I've tried "the pink Mission" before and I liked it. It's a bit heavier than some other OPS, but I really don't like a super super super light stick. I need to have a little weight behind my shots.

I really like the way the Elias curve handles the puck. Its smooth and my wrist shot has a good snap to it. Can't tell you about my slapshot....yet, since my arm was sore when I went out to give it a whirl.

Since I'm a girl (who's had 2 shoulder surgeries) 75 flex is the best for me.

I've had much worse sticks than this Mission. I broke the blade off of my RBK 7 after a few months. I used one of our girls Pink Stick in a game (she was hurt) and other than my first shift where the puck bounced off it, I found the stick durable and have a nice flex.

Each to their own.

And you're right MissConduct. Pink shouldn't be in hockey. Which is why they bought it for me.

I would NEVER have pink gloves OR laces. I have my black gloves and my yellow laces. Hehe.

And beggers can't be choosers. I KNOW they got me the pink stick because I hate pink. Oh well, I'll stand out.

haha.. I play with a girl who's got pink laces and pink gloves, we all razz her about it. All in good fun tho ;)

My buddies and I just bought the pink jersey and matching socks from thehockeyshop.com, to be used as a punishment. The idea is that the guy that has the biggest bonehead move of the game will have to wear the jersey and socks, which I've dubbed, The Puni (Pink UNIform), to the next pickup hockey session.

You can also qualify to wear the Puni by losing a friendly bet. For example, I bet my buddy that our teammate, who is taking this season off, would return their jersey at our last game.... I lost, so I get to have the inaugural skate with the Puni... I am sooo lucky.

All in good fun.

EDIT TO ADD:

We just found the newest addition to the Puni...bunny ears. They have suction cups and will attach to the helmet. Helmet Ears. Now that we're doing that, I believe we're going to have "PUCK BUNNY" printed on the front and back of the jersey.

3.5" inches still shouldn't bring a 75 mission flex up past about what an 83ish mission flex would be. If it's anything like the graduated Powertek sticks I've seen where their 70 goes up to about 76 if you take of 2-3" (I can't remember without one in front of me). I really liked their graduated stick, it only has 3 marks though, but it gives you an idea of how much you're changing the flex.
