Pants too big?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I have a quick question. I bought some Ice hockey pants that are size Large. They are CCM 652's. Basically my question is if they are too big. From the side they look humoungus, and I'm not that big of a guy. I'm about 6'0" and 190 lbs. My waist size in Abercrombie jeans is 34, which is probably a 36 in normal jeans (they run big). I used the chart that said 34-36 is large...without tightening them they are loose and fall down, but I can tighten them so they stay up. BUt they are bulky and IDK if I went to Medium if I could move better. They are very protective and nice pants but if I can be more mobile and fast it'd help. Any clues on how to know what size to get? Or to keep the Larges? They also make me look fat, which I think might be a sign of them being too big.

And if they are, and anyone wants to buy them, they're in brand new condition used once. I'd probably sell them for about 55-60.

Thanks again.

you could go and try the mediums......and nobody's gonna call you fat on the rink so i don't think you have to worry about looking fat

First of all you don't want them too tight because they'll restrict your movement. This is a personal preference issue as well. I tend to wear my pants a bit tight so I use a large instead of an extra large. As long as you are adequetely protected you can downsize a bit. Make sure the pants go to the top of your knees at the shins and just overlap at the knee about an inch and a half. Also make sure your kidneys area is covered and the pants reach to the bottom of your shoulder pads because otherwise you leave yourself open to back injuries. I personally still use suspenders because I'm old school but a lot of younger guys just use the waist belts. Either way is acceptable as long as your protection isn't compromised. So in a nutshell you can wear tighter pants as long as you don't sacrifice movement and protection. Hope I've helped. ;)

The sizing sounds right, I'm about your size just not as tall and wear large pants. Did try on the pants with all of your gear or by themselves?

i tried on the 692's and they're kinda bulky. so if you get them tighter it may restrict your movement even more. if they feel fine but look big, i wouldn't worry about them.

I've got a medium 652 and wear 32" levi's. And the 652 fits tight (they stay in place without tightening). Not restrictive but tight (i like it that way). So if your jeans size is 34"-36" .. i'd say you wont fit into a medium 652!

I tried both, large and medium and i think the difference is huge. the large was way too big for me! Stay with large if they are ok and not too big.

Not to hijack..but I'm looking to replace my pants. I'm sorta in between sizes...waer a 32 or 33 in jeans. I currently have pants in 32-34 medium...they are a little loose, but if I got small-- would the length be any different and if so, how much? Don't want to have like a huge gap between my shins and pants.

I tried the pants on both ways, all gear and alone. I played with them one time two games....haha I invite girls to watch me play so I couldn't care less about the players, but me personally i can't stand me lookin like fat bastard haha. But maybe I can take a picture and put it up. I never see NHL'ers or college players with the look of mine.

That's why I would only buy pants that are exact sizing--like Eastons from a couple years ago or Tacklas. I hate having a general waist size--L is 34-36. I have a pair of Easton Air pro stock from '99 that are for 34" inch waist (I'm 6'3" 180). Search on ebay and you might be able to pick up some even size pants.

Hahaha, me too. I'm a 34 inch waist and wear a medium size pant and it's horrible when put together with my shin pads. The shins make a cone kinda shape which SO reminded me of my fat mate. I wonder how you get shaft shaped legs... like Ovechkin...

I'm a 33-34 pant size and wear ccm M. Bought a pair of large based on the same info you saw and found to be way to bulky and sent them back. M fits much better for me.
