And btw, I've been told this many of times, don't let the I2 paint scheme trick you. It's a gimmick...in reality it's just a white cage, the black on the outside is so it looks cool.

No, the black on the outside is to absorb light rather than reflect it in order to reduce glare. I found the I2 colour scheme made a big difference over plain white or plain black cages.

I really honestly dont see how much light it absorbs...but just going from what I was told. I never used a cage...half visor or cage combo.

go for the cage.. if you're still open to wearing one, then go with it. I wear a visor, today some big oaf had a breakaway and I chased him down and swatted the puck away from him, then went and got the puck and had to answer to this guy's elbow in my face, I saw it at the last second and tried to duck it but he caught me in the jaw and neck area.. not sure if a cage would help in that instance so maybe theres no point to my story.

edit... does anyone actually use those half-cages? http://www.hockeygiant.com/itch910cg.html

I personally have never seen anybody wear a half cage, but then I figure if you have half of one what's the difference of having the rest of a full cage, lol.

Right now I'm more leaning towards a cage, but am thinking for drop in's and adult league(no check, helmets and shoulder pads optional) I may get a visor and stick it on another helmet and just use the cage for more contact oriented hockey. Not sure about that, but just an idea because accidents still do happen.

Right now I'm pretty much decided on the Jofa 480 to stick on an RBK 8K, although looking at the 8500 with the 8500 cage, the wire arrangement is different from previous Bauer cages and looks more similar to that of the Jofa and Itech cages. Since that has the finish I prefer I may check one of those out later on when they come out to compare. I've been working all week on a clients website so I should have 300 or so by thursday to order this stuff along with new elbows and jock, since I've grown out of some stuff since last I played.

I appreciate everybodys input, if anybody else has an opinion it would be great to hear it.

I played against a guy with a half cage on last weekend. It really doesnt seem to make sense to me, if your gonna have half a cage you may aswell have the whole thing, perhaps ventilation is better <_<

I personally prefer the itech cage shape. I played with balck and chrome and loved them both. I tried the jofa cage, but didnt get on with it, it sorta came under my chin more than the itech which i had a few problems with. Now i play with a half visor and have never looked back.

any of you guys know of that new Itech 908TI RBE VIII Titanium Helmet Cage has a different shape? i'm using a Oakley Full Shield/Cage Combo and that thing fogs up like a bitch. i can't see anything when i'm on the bench and when i get on the ice it takes at least 30 sec to clear up at the top. the part where my mouth is located is always fogged up. i need something else BAD,

Ok, so I feel like a retard, and I think there was a post with the answer on this board somwhere but don't know where. In the NCAA Hockey Finals, I think it was on BC or Wisconsin(i think that's the other team) was wearing like a big ass white cage? I think it was a jofa, or maybe Itech? If anyone could gimme a link to those, or tell me what they were that would be helpful. Jus thought about it now...

Don't be a puss, get the visor.

Wearing a cage instead of a visor isn't about being a "puss." No one should ever be chided for opting for full face protection. Grow up.

6 ft 3 in is good enough for me.

Yeah, well I'm 6'5". This isn't a whose dick is bigger post. Untill I get paid to play instead of pay to play, I wear a cage. However, in practice just wear a helmet. BTW, I had to replace my cage due to the fact that I got cross checked, and fell face first on top of the goal post. Remember, being taller means more inertia bringing your face (or cage) into contact with the post. In that happened in practice, I probably would have lost several teeth.

EDIT: Saw further down that you were joking, but my point still stands.
