GRAF G9 vs. Bauer One 90

Recommended Posts

So i have to buy new ice skates this year and am looking for a pair that will last mabe 2 or 3 years and need top performance. Do you think the bauers will last as long as the G9 s? I felt the 0ne 90s and they are really light! What do you think?

Nobody has used the One90s that long to determine whether they're really durable yet. Your best bet would be to ask JR.

Neither skate has been out long enough to know how durable they are however Grafs are known for their durability. The Bauers may go the way of the Vapors or turn around and be a good line for Nike/Bauer like the Supreme line were. The One90 is a nice skate and it you want to gamble a bit you could try them. I'm just hoping that Nike/Bauer has learned their lesson with the Vapors and are making their newer lines to last a bit longer.

Simple. Try both on and whichever fits best you should get. That is absolutely the most important thing. With the top end models, weight really isn't to me an issue because all of the skates are plenty light.

dude you need to do your research...two completey different skates.. your G9 is your lagest volume skate made on the market ... a One90 is WAY WAY oposite of the spectrum... I have and tryed a pair of the one90s... Go to a good LHS and ask them what skate is right for your foot.

you don't buy a skate based on how "good" it is. you need the fit and the durability IMO, I would never ever spend money on vapors, vectors are good and lightness is just a bonus. (actually a really BIG BONUS :P)

IMO when i tried on the graf compared to the bauers i found that the bauers while lighter, did not have as much protection in certain parts (ie. tounge ect) but ultimately its up to what you like

Top performance and 2, 3 years should not be in the same sentence. High end skates are built for performance not long term durability. That is how they do it these days. Get the boot that fits the best. If you take great care of your skates, then you can make them last.

the One70, which replaces the 8090 may be more your style or look at some Flexlite's if you are in the market for a high volume skate

It's good to know they'll still make a skate that fits like an 8090.. because right now I'm in Bauer 5090s and the 8090s were gonna be my next skate.
