Koivu's future uncertain

Recommended Posts

Ya heard it on the radio... not so good. Everything sounded like it was going to plan. We've seen what the Habs are like without him

It would kill me to be left in such uncertainty about it.

Best of luck on the recovery, I wouldn't wish something like this on anybody.

its bad for both Koivu and his team.

but you can bet this will spike some sort of controversy

whether it be concerning Williams, or the refs and whatnot

hope he can recover

Even if there was a call, it'd be a 4 minute double minor. It's not like Williams had any intent to injure him.

His situation really sucks but like he said, at least it's not cancer

I had a bad feeling about this. But, as we all know, this guy is a fighter and a tough cookie.

theres no doubt about that, but you cant will your body to heal itself. Its something nobody really has control over, the doctors can do as many surgerys as they want and his body still might not recover, which is quite rather unsettling

If it's anything like Sundin's was, it'll be almost impossible to tell. Some days you heard he'd play that week, others would come out shortly after and say he's close to shutting it down for the year.

Apparantly, 48 hours can make a big difference to the outlook of injury recovery.

Good news.

I think that was the reporters taking advantage of a vague story with an update. Since there wasn't much saying weather or not he could play next year, they're claiming it's a good sign he's going back to finland. They even used the same quote.

Anyhow, he's great, and he needs to keep playing for the habs, heal er up Saku.

You're probably right,...how long was Mats out? Almost 3 months? That's right around training camp time...I won't start to really worry until then if he isn't ready.

He went out in the first game of the season, then came back in November, but Koivu's may be longer. Mats came back a little early and didn't play overly well. Put up decent numbers, but wasn't himself.

I guess it just seemed like 3 months, because it took him so long to get back ontrack...I didn't realize the actual recovery was that quick.

Eye injuries take a long time to heal/self correct..the brain has to retrain some nerves too...and of course it is worrisome because you are used to having a certain facility with your eyes, and everytime something is not quite the same it's immediately apparent....then you worry it may never be...patience and time.

My son got a couple of small steel shards in his eye when grinding some metal (was even wearing safety glasses)...Thought he just had "pink eye" because he never really felt it happen...By the time he got to the doctor..3 days later, his eye was seriously infected, and had no vison...They pulled the shards and "polished" the retina, and gradually in a few weeks with antibiotics some vision returned...the doctors said they were not sure if he would ever fully regain his eyesight in that eye..He had 25/20 vision in both eyes prior to(better than 20/20) the injury..For another month or so things were still blurry and he came to accept that maybe that eye would never be the same...now 3 months after...his eyesight has fully recovered...
