Little leather bit where the screws connect

Recommended Posts

OK, so basically, the screws split on my old bauer 1000, so I bought a new 4500.

I was going to buy a new cage as well, but instead picked up some replacement screws, as they were the only things showing wear.

on my old helmet, where the cage connects to the helmet at the center/forehead area, there is a bit of leather.

That is not on my new helmet, so not sure if I should transfer it over when I am changing the cage over.

I can only assume its to stop scratches or stop the screws splitting the helmet or something.

Is it worth transferring over, or does it even matter? Does it have a functional purpose on the helmet?

Sorry about such an idiotic question

yeah my 5000 didn't have it, and when i went from cage to visor, there were little bits of damage on the forehead piece because it didn't have the leather.

you can't xfer hte leather "nose" piece. it is rivited in. the leather was put there to protect the nose when hte helmet is bumped down.
