kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 At the gym they had a machine that you sit on your butt and "twist" on it. Is this for your hip flexors? Are they important for hockey?
ktang 34 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 I think they are more for your obliques. I read somewhere (don't remember the site) that this machine isn't good for you.
#44wannabe 4 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Its ok on medium to low weights, but never do any weights where feel pressed to lift it. This can lead to slipped discs in your back. It's main use is to tone muscles for that 'ripped' look.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 you can accomplish the same thing by doing cherry pickers(difference is cherry pickers are cheaper, more effective and won't hurt you).*Cherry pickers are where you start from sitting with your legs straight and lean back till you feel your mid abs working. Tighten your abs and then turn touching both hands to the floor to the left then right. Start slow and rest, then work up the speed.

akhockeyplaya 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2006 Hip flexors are *very* important in hockey, but I'm not sure that that machine works them from the sound of it.
Trooper 8 Report post Posted June 21, 2006 If you want to do similar work, get a medicine ball and do some rotational throws.
