Great free storage

www.box.net

This is a great little site I found. They have a very slick interface (very web 2.0ish) and it works great. You get 1gb of storage for free. (you can pay 50 or 100 for 5gb or 15 gb respectivly per year). It works great and its easy to share files and move them around. Its great to use as a backup (not your sole backup though). Enjoy

this is a good free alternative. There are much better alternitives out there, I think ftp is better, but it can get confusuing.

If someone can't grasp FTP, they need to step away from the computer.

well this is brain dead. Sharing over ftp is tough, especially with grandparents involved, etc. You can obviously hook it up to an http server, but this is just drag and drop and share and its simple.

My grandfather refuses to get a computer so I don't have to deal with that.

I get 200mb of storage and unlimited bandwidth from my college :)

theres no such thing as unlimited bandwidth... get a couple terabytes of transfer some months and you will be getting shut down.

I think it would be pretty hard to exceed their bandwidth, I mean we are the second largest university in the state. I'd probably just get a warning if I exceeded any limits and if it continued then they'd take it down. Not like I am hosting anything that would possibly exceed a couple gbs a month at very MOST.

im just saying in priniciple there is no such thing as UNLIMITED. It would be very easy to bring down their server if somebody wanted to.
