favorite food before a game

Recommended Posts

Pasta and toast if I can have it 3-4 hours before gametime. If I have to eat around an hour and a half before, I just grab a powerbar. And I always drink a nice bottle of Dasani on the way there, it's a 40 minute drive, usually.

i read/heard somwhere that milk is beneficial before a game? anyone else heard this?

A couple of my old coaches told me it was bad before a game, something about it making your saliva thicker and making you thirstier before the game. I just remember they wouldn't let us drink milk/eat cereal before a game unless the cereal was dry.

Before a game I usually eat pasta or rice with some chicken and if I wanna play well I drink 1 bottle of water on the way to the rink and 1 bottle before the warmup.

Meat in the morning and carbs like Pasta if I can. Light dinner with mostly rice. I think rice digests faster than other similar carbs.

Powerbar gel just before the game to give me fresh energy for the 3rd period.

SunDrop and some Bojangles 2hrs before the game (hour drive to the rink)

ya'll don't have good eatin' like that up north...

SunDrop= lemon soda, much better than mountain dew, made locally in NC

Bojangles=cajun-style (spicy) fried chicken and southern fixin's (pintos, dirty rice, mashed taters, etc)

2 *cans* Southpaw Light and a pack of Reese's Cups after the game.

cans are better than bottles (you can sneak cans into the rink inside your shin guards)

oh if you aint heard of southpaw, its a local beer too...

Dear god, you eat Bojangles before a game? I could feel the grease oozing through my pores for two days after going there.

If by "local" you mean it's an American beer, then yes...yes it's local.

well i said local because everyone around here drinks it, and i've never seen it anywhere except around here... its not as popular as, say, bud or miller (or labatt or molson for our canadian friends).

but sundrop, on the other hand is made right here in my hometown so it really is local.

I knew Sun Drop was a Southern thing because it's too damned sugary to last anywhere else.

Southpaw may be just regional because I'm back up North and can't find it anywhere.

i find that pasta makes me feel sluggish even when i eat it like 2 hours before a game, my favorite is either a non-cream soup or chicken parmasean minus the spaghetti
