Spider-Man 3

What a cluster they've turned the comics to, but I hope it keeps working. Praying they don't give anything more of a glimpse of Venom and wow did they gay up the Green Goblin or whatever they'll call Harry.

Spider-Man doesn't turn into Venom. The suit is a living creature that attaches itself to Spider-Man, giving him advanced powers. He doesn't like what it's doing to him, gets it off and it then attaches itself to the character Topher Grace is playing and they become Venom.

Way back in the mid-Eighties, Marvel had its Secret Wars which, if I remember correctly, was in response to DC's Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Crisis was outstanding. It was a year long story that tried to pull together all the different heroes into one universe. After 50 years of publishing comics, the DC universe had become too convoluted because, whenever someone would write them, "Hey, how could Superman needed a helmet in outer space in Action 356, when he flew without anything in Superman 128?" DC would respond, "Umm, that was Superman from Earth-2 in Action 356." Over time, there probably were about eight Earths, so DC used the mini-series to choose who they wanted to remain. Supergirl died. Flash died. I think GL went mad. Captain Marvel joined the DC universe. The JSA (Justice Society) existed in the same Earth as the JLA (Justice League).

Conversely, Secret Wars was a fairly lame attempt. It was Marvel's summer crossover in which most of their heroes and villains were spirited away to a secret world to fight at the whim of the Beyonder. Marvel also used the mini-series to make changes to its characters. I believe one change was the Thing stayed on the world of the Beyonder, while She-Hulk joined the Fantastic Four. Another change was Spider-Man got his new black costume, which was organic; it would materialize when he needed it or shoot webs without needing hardware.

However, the costume was a symbiant which started to creep into Peter Parker's consciousness, making him more aggressive. Ultimately, PP had to trick the symbiant to leave him, which didn't sit well with the symbiant. It wanted revenge on Spidey, so it found another host body and, voila, Venom was born.

But with Topher Grace being in it, I'm guessing they're going with the Bendis Ultimate Venom rather than the cosmic explanation. I'd guess Venom's barely a footnote in this movie though, building it up for #4.

After watching the trailer....all I have to say is

"OH HELL YEAH!!!!!"

Looks awesome. Although Topher as Eddie Brck is a bit off....Wasn't Eddie a big muscle head who hated PP.....one of the reasons Venom was so brutal a villian, it (the Symbiat) made all that hatred amplified...

I read the Ultimate Venom, but I forget the origin. What's that story?

Yes, if I'm remembering correctly, Eddie Brock was a photographer who kept losing out the primeir pictures to Peter Parker.

Hope they dont turn it into a comedy like number 2. They ruined some serious parts in that one. This one looks like it has potential.

Really excited about this movie, I haven't been a Spiderman fan for long but I got into it about a year or so ago. The 3rd movie will be out around my birthday and I am so looking forward to it and the next ones to come.

The "Venom suit" was designed by Eddie Brock's dad and Peter Parker's dad, who were scientists that worked together. Brock's dad was interested in the suit for military reasons and Parker's dad wanted it to help cure cancer. Eddie and Peter were close friends as kids, so when Peter was visiting Eddie at college, Eddie showed him he was working on a sample of the suit. One of the samples bonded to Peter and later on he found out about dark tendencies he gave him, so he was going to destroy it. He destroyed it, Eddie got pissed off and used the second sample on himself.

Pretty much the same stuff as the original, but there's no spider symbol on him and he has to feed on humans.

To hell with Spiderman 3, the Clerks 2 trailer is out and the movie is less than a month away.

Did I mention I hate apple and their damn quicktime? It seems like every time something is posted in QT, I have to download yet another different version.

i also can't wait, always been a big fan of spiderman.

eddie wasn't actually a musclehead until after he got the suit, according to the comics, he started working out as an outlet after he got fired from the Daily Globe because of Spiderman

In that series, yes. In the "Ultimate" series though he's younger and scrawnier, which is why Topher Grace makes sense and I assume/hope that's the storyline they use.

you're right mack, it does make a lot more sense for them to use the ultimate version, even the cartoon version of venom's origin would be pretty good (involves john jameson going to space and acquiring the symbiote by accident for those who don't know). I guess they could attribute the extra muscle mass to the suit too if necessary

But that'd take a while I think. Isn't that where he comes back as...crap, I forgot his name but he's like a werewolf? With as many villains as they show in the trailer, it'd be surprising to me if they have Venom in there for anything more than a teaser. You figure with the presumption that MJ dies/leaves that they'll need someone like Venom for the next one.

Edit: Moonwolf or some crap like that.
