Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I know that we have a database for retail patterns but is there a place that i can find pro patterns listed and or compared to retail patterns. Appreciate any help that you may have to offer.

If you want to know what a specific pro curve looks likes just post the name and stick. Many members here know what a lot of the pro curves look like.

Hello everybody,

I was wondering if anyone could help me find a a Modano/Forsberg pattern in an Easton (or any other brand that is at the price of the Easton's) OPS Pro-Stock with a 4-4.5 Lie.

I have spent quite a bit of time searching but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I am currently looking at the Pro Sticks they have on Hockeymonkey, that seem to be a great deal.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

D

i'm thinking just get a Warrior Federov lie 4. seems like that's what you're looking for.

Thanks!

Any idea what that would be in a Pro pattern for Warrior?

The retail is a bit pricey (that's why I am wondering about the Pro Stock Eastons-OPS stick for $90 seems like a great deal vs. the $200+ for the retail Warrior/Easton etc.)

Their retail lie 4 is more like 4.5, but it would still work for him.

Thanks!

Pro is custom, they are not retail curves. They often vary from one batch to the next for a given player as well.

Thanks Chadd,

That is my concern. On their website they give appx. retail curves but the downside is they don't mention the lie...in your opinion, do you think if I call them up they will have any idea what I'm talking about?

(I see your point-the pro's may be experimenting with different curves/lies so it's really a crap shoot as far as what is being offered; but if somebody knew that a certain player has a tendency to use a certain lie it would help).

what about the rbk M14 pro pattern, anyone have any idea?

Moderate heel curve, slightly open.

M-14 is the pro version of the retail Modano curve

Their retail lie 4 is more like 4.5, but it would still work for him.

Incorect, the retail Warrior Federov in reality is at least 5.0 if not 5.5 lie. I coudn't get use to that lie. What you need is retail sherwood PP10 which used to be an older Leclair, it's a straight mid curve with a true 4.5 lie, plus a better rocker on the bttom then Modano curve.

Cheers

My fedorov is just a smidge lower than 5. i refer to it as 4.75, but

It plays basically the same as my other modano clones, all 5 lies.

That is a large collection of shitty pics of curves, that's for sure. Glad to see some of my babies made it, though they're good pics.

You must have some mutant curve because every one of the hundreds that I've seen have been sub-5 lie. As for the leclair having a "better" rocker, that's your preference. I like a blade that is almost flat on the bottom, others like severely rounded bottoms like Lindros or Sakic blades. Don't push your preference as fact.

I use the sakic and the draper is a clone, but it has a 5 lie (or is it really a 5.5 just listed as a 5?), you think this would make any difference or not.

The one I had was when they just came out it was about 5.1 - 5.2 lie, but definitely not what Warrior listed. As for rocker, he said he wanted a low lie curve and in my experience low lie sticks with rounder rocker especially on the toe allow more flexibility in your game since you can pull it closer to your fee. If it's completely flat blade, you will have much harder time pulling it or toe dragging it. Now if you use a stick with high lie, then rocker becomes less important. I think there was a thread about Lies not long a go, where someone mentioned that bigger rocker gives you few lies in one stick.

Cheers

Bigger rocker gives you less blade on the ice at any time and that has a big impact if your shooting form is off a little. I see guys using P88s all the time that have the puck stand up and curve to the left in mid air (RH shots). Put them in a blade with a lower lie and/or less rocker on the bottom and suddenly those shots stay flatter.

Rocking the toe for toe drags and stickhandling "tricks" is understandable. Rocking the heel has no tangible benefit to players that I have been able to find in all the years that I've been doing this. Unless you're Brett Hull just cupping the puck to fire your one-timers , a huge rocker all along the blade is a lot worse than a smaller rocker.

Thanks a lot Chadd, ben using the p88 for a year now, and my shot did the curve in air, could not figure it out.

Good discussion on the rocker. I've been using the P88 and Sakic the last several weeks and haven't really noticed it too much, other than it is kind of nice when somebody throws a pass WAY too far in front of you and you can get a hair more blade on the ice.

Just makes me want to order some custom Christians all the more...rocker-less 5 lie toe version of the Sakic.

I know this subject has been done to death and I have searched (all the pics had been removed since they were so old), but does anyone here have a decent pic of Kovalev's pro curve?
