SWAT vs. Hockey Players

Recommended Posts

(Maybe move this to ice?)

Do you think it is easier to shoot a hockey puck accurately at a 6’X4’ goal, or to shoot an MP5 40-calibur sub-machine gun set on fully-automatic at a target just 5 yards away?

Members of the San Antonio Rampage and the San Antonio S.W.A.T. Team got to find out the answer to that question first hand recently when they trained on each others’ turf for two straight days.

Muzzle climb is hard to fight with an automatic weapon. The second pic doesn't show anything on the MP5 to compensate for the climb so it would be difficult to hold it on target at full auto. They're damn nice weapons though.

But still from 5 yards away for trained swat, i'd be pretty disapointed if they couldn't manage that

I haven't seen the video, but allow me to explain it to you.

The hockey players are shooting off rounds, the SWAT guys are shooting pucks.

Guys, if you can't see the video from here (which I could not) It's also on the Rampage website.

Where...I was just looking and can't find a Multi Media section...

Even on a 9mm pistol... on semi. It's definitely harder than it looks.

I liked "Sir...put down the beer" then the other guy goes "Or just finish it"

The hockey players make better Cops than the Cops make hockey players.

That was sweet. Does anyone know what songs are playing in that video?

The one at the end sounds like the band Reliant K... Other than that, I don't know.

Sorry to tell you guys, but the recoil from an MP5 amounts to a firm press against your shoulder when fired full auto. This allows for very little muzzle climb due to recoil, and in theory, every round should be within the bullet spread tolerences specified by H&K.

That said, even playing hockey I'd have a tougher time shooting the pucks into the net than firing the MP5.

I have shot one of those last summer (in Las Vegas, of course)..and it is sweeeeeet..my older brother fired off a Saw...but yeah the target was a little farther than five yards away and i sniped it pretty good considering i have never even touched a gun before that..I'd probably say shooting the gun from five yards would be more accuratley efficient than trying to shoot for acuracy on the goal..

project 2501 is right about the recoil. another factor in shooting an mp5 is how tight your sling is. i used to fire about 2500-5000 rounds a month through one. i always kept my sling very tight thus pulling the weapon in thighter to my body. never even adjusted my sights. the mp5 varients are very easy t ofire and hit the target. we would shoot from as far as 75 yards and hit the target with accuracy. unlike other fully autos in larger caliber the mp5 has about a 1/4 to 3/4" muzzle climb. where as an m-60 will rise up until you stop pulling the trigger.

all of HK's weapons are awsome. the varient i carried was and MP5SD3, i also carried the USPMK23MOD0(.45 cal pistol).
