I wouldn't base your choice of hollow on the one that gets the most votes....alot of things factor in when you choose a hollow like skating experience, hardness of the ice, playing style, etc. I recommend starting out with your sharpener's 'default' cut and get shallower from there until you find a cut that's good for you.

...As for me I prefer 5/8 - 3/4 for the rinks around my area!

I have 11/16'', I am going to get more shallower when I'll play on a more soft ice. My bro got 1'' on the same ice thought.

5/8's. After skating with 1/2 and then going to 5/8's and then for one game trying the 1/2 again....... It's definitely 5/8's. I like that with the 5/8's that the skates slide a little more on the ice. I guess you could say they are more forgiving when you're stop and starting and turning. The little bit of added speed doesn't hurt either!!!!

i'm on 5/8 but do you really feel that you are faster with shallower hollow? Actually i never felt a difference..

My brother calls me "fussy", but I can't help it, its what I like. He just plunks his skates down and gets whatever they give him (although last time he asked for 1/2, based on my nagging).
