Sprung Hockey

Recommended Posts

I was on the rink aswell with ash and the speed of which the front arm came off was crazy, i thought the puck had snapped in half. Clean snap on the front arm.

Im just about to get my sprungs put on, How easy is it to get rocker arms for the frame? and how much? might be worth getting a few ordered.

Ok heres my Update...

My sprungs are broken! Which really sucks as i LOVE these frames. Took a shot to the front sprung arm and it just snapped my front wheel clean off.

I managed to borrow some size 7 skates (im size 10!) to finish the 2nd period.

I did the damp towel thing to help durability and everything but still no luck.

Has anyone else had any problems with sprungs breaking?

Yep, me for sure! More than everybody in the whole world put together. The old, closeout model was under-built. The ones before it, that we didn't sell, were even more under-built. But they all got skated on till they broke.

That's why I included two extra rocker arms. They are too lightly built and they break sometimes. But you can fix them easy. You can't do that with reg frames.

We haven't had a single broken rocker arm from the white materials we tested. We went the best. The alloy material is good for 100 mph from the hockey canon.

If you're still worried, you can order extra rocker arms with the new ones. They don't cost much.

Your warranty is still going, so the broken arm will be replaced. Email me with your address and and the color, and I'll send out a replacement immediately.

You LOVING them is obviously my favorite part of your post.

i broke 2rockers in one game last week ,the back snapped off,the front i didnt know was broke until i checked the whole frame after the game.they broke hitting a gap between the sportcourt and the boards while i was stopping.my first shift in a playoff game..i did have the extra rocker and tools.lost 6 minutes of game time(1 shift)but did finish the rest of the game.i sill have a couple of rockers left.i would much rather deal with changing rockers then changing aluminum frames or buying new skates.

Yeah i do love them. When i put this other skate on, it felt like i was turning in aggressive skates or something. Opposed to the feeling of it cutting like an ice skate.

I do honestly believe that sprungs are the future, and soon enough The old chassis will be thought of the same as aluminium shaft. Does the job, but theres more advances on it. its a thing of the past now really.

If you ever need any sponsored players or anyone to get the word out about sprungs chassis over here in England, and also in places in Europe. give me a shout, I'd love to help out!

I have now been using my converted Mission 1500's with the closeout model frame for over a month. On top of that I have started back on the Ice again for the 1st time in 3 years. My transition from to Ice has become so much smoother and on top of that Im ripping guys left right and centre in Inline. Guys who have normally had so much jump on me, I have taken them apart!

This product honestly is the best thing I have ever tried performance wise, they have improved my skating ALL over, not just cornering and speed.

To quote World of Warcraft....

My Life for Sprung frames!!!!

No, Its not really like the hilo. It kinda of feels like a cross between hilo and the old rocker chassis - But nice!

the only problems i found when switching was the feeling i was falling forwards or backwards as i leant on the front and back sprung arms.

The transition for me only lasted about one session and now i wont look back.

Just got an email from Keith a few weeks back on some sprungs I was trying to get... it seems that he's having a late shipment from the factory in China (gotta blame my ancesters for the Chinese New Year)...

Btw, Chinese New Year is a HUGE thing, and its spread over a span of about 15 days... China has what is called a Golden Week, and every factory, shop, place is closed for the week...

I have mine installed on my 7500s but the mission spacers don't work with the axels so I've got a pair of sonic spacers in the mail from giant.

Oh Boy! New Pictures!!

These first ones are Jouquin's Work Boots. They started out as ice, then had themselves reamed out for Beem'rs, which shattered much of the outsole so it hung off the edges of the frames.

This is the second set of Sprungs on them and I took the time to fill some of the troughs with two-part epoxy. The new frame helps support the broken down, multi-punched outsole so they can keep on ticking. He has the same ice boots.

These next ones are an experiment. I bought a pair of Tour Formula 9s for $99 and they came with all 76 mm wheels and abec 7 bearings. Very Economical!!

These are the ice boots I mentioned seeing a long time ago at a show. I don't think anybody knows anything about them, including me. They're good looking, and Very light/underbuilt. They weigh 4 ozs less than the Wicked 1s with the same wheel and bearing setup.

The sole is way thin, but doesn't hang over the side of the frame any more than most high end boots do. Once again, the Sprung front mount helps support the boot outsole.

They're comfortable and lightweight, but I wouldn't stick my foot in front of a hard slapshot. They'd make a great pair of light backup boots, or a cheap pair to thrash and wear out in a season. Or not, who knows?

The frames are Jouquin's and I ended up with white frames and Genesis wheels. I think they look even better than with the b/w frame.

After getting the new model frames back in December I finally got around to getting them mounted on a pair of Mission L7s size 8.5EE. I wasn't in a big rush because it's pretty tough to skate outdoors in the winter in Toronto and the leagues don't start until May. I picked them up from the store that mounted them today. They're mounted with rivets (6 steel at the front and 4 copper at the back) and the mounting looks perfectly straight, however; it does look like the frames are mounted slightly more forward. I skates around the house in them for a few mintues on the hardwood floors and the balance was OK so I'm not too worried about the slight forward mount. They're secure and straight so I'm sure they'll be fine and I can't wait to be able to try them somewhere where there's more space (but I'll have to wait until either the roads are clear and dry or until May when the roller season starts). At that time I will be able to make a direct comparison to the Tuuk rocker chassis as that's what I've been using for the past several years (and I still have two pairs of skates with the Rocker Chassis - a stock Bauer Vapor 10 roller and a pair of Nike VForce Boots with the Comp Rocker mounted on them).

Keith (Sprungster) is a great guy, just so everyone knows. He personally helped me out with my breakage isssues, and showed me what he was up to. The new frames look and feel great. Also, I tried those formula 9's on (before he put the sprung frame on) and I wouldn't mind using skates like those as my everyday skate. They are so light! Thanks again for swapping out my arms for me. No problems with the blue ones!

Cheers,

Philip

Hey Keith, you mentioned that the previous model was a little underbuilt? but still holds up I guess?

I've told my buddy who is using the older model to soak his chassis and the rocker arms in water to get them up to full strength... should be better than just wrapping them in a wet towel?
