Sprung Hockey

Recommended Posts

Nahh I'll be taking the skates somewhere, I have a really busy schedule coming up in the next month (only six days off all of June as a 19 year old, with most of my days off being scheduled with hockey games), so I'll gladly shell out the cash to get them done by someone else and not take the chance of screwing them up.

You'll most probably have to go with all copper rivets as you want the inside to be as flush with the footbed as possible. Make sure they have the extra long copper rivets, the guy that did my mount had the normal rivets and they juuuuust fit. Popped two of them first time using them. Not the mounter's fault, just that you'll have to go thru the insole/footbed, and the outsole.

Best of luck... from my limited time on them, they were comfortable and easy to skate with.

This is killing me. I've got a pair of A7's right now just sitting around. I'm dying to try them out. Unfortunately I thought I had an extra boot lying around to put them on. When I went to look for them I couldn't find them. I remembered that I gave them to a friend when I moved. I'm kicking myself right now.

Imagine what it would be like if the whole chassis was white powdercoat aluminum alloy. We've already gotten prices on the arms, and it looks like it will work. Still waiting on the frame bid. They'd look just the same. This would be next year at the earliest.

The aluminum alloy will be about the same weight and a bit stronger where it counts. The mag alloy will be lighter and stronger. Both will be more rigid so that the suspension does it's thing with less torque. They'll have the beef of Red Star Alloys, but stronger than extruded and machined. They will not replace the current nylon alloy models, which are finally getting to where they should be. ;)

I also had the pivot holes break on a few of the black rocker arms of the Torspo/Sprung combo I bought last year. Keith sent out a few replacement white ones right away and I haven't had any problems with those, but I did have another one of the remaining black rocker arm pivots break in a game last week (having one wheel that keeps bottoming out due to a broken pivot isn't fun in game play). I have skates with three different A6 chassis's and have only had a problem with the black rocker arms so I do believe that it was just a bad batch of arms as I believe Keith mentioned earlier in this thread. The current white A6 arms haven't given me any issues and the new A6X arms due out in a few more months are supposed to be even more durable/reliable.

The pivot breakages were unfortunate, but the Sprungs are still the best chassis I've used, I've recieved excellent support and service and Keith acknowledged the issue and has worked to correct it.

Ive has this happened twice, first was white second was a black replacement that keith sent out. Im scared to use the skates again incase it happens again and i cant have it happening in gameplay.

Any solid fixes?

Cyclones beat the Blades 7-1 and 5-2, but I heard a rumor that the whole SW AIHL was disqualified because of rule infractions or something.

Thats Itan. Joaquin tested them I believe. When I saw Joaquin at TORHS over Christmas time he was using Commanders with a normal frame.

Yeah, they didn't play enough games.

Got my skates in today and I'm starting to wonder if the Sprungs I have are too small for the holder...can anyone shed some light before I try and get them mounted?

What size are your boots? Looks like they could use A7s.

The A-7 would be my suggestion. I wear size 10 Tacks and I am using an A-6 on one pair and an A-8 on the other pair. At first I had the A-6 on my size 9.5 Vectors and then I switched to an A-8 and both worked fine but the perfect match would probably be an A-7.

Do you think there is any big downside to using the A6 on them? I found a couple chassis on eBay that might do the trick as well

No, I think the A-6 would be fine on those, like I said I have used the A-6 on a size 10. On a 10 the A-6 seems a little on the small side as far as looks but it has worked out fine. Before the A-8 and A-7 were produced everyone was using the A-6 on just about every size of skate.

Sounds good, I wish I had known more about the Sprungs before I bought them at the shop, so I would have gotten the right size. But I'm excited about the conversion
