Lacebite problems with One90

Recommended Posts

No problems, and I had huge ones with 8090.

Don't the 8090's have that stiff insert in the tongue for lace bite?

I just got some 8090s, and after 5 games now the tongue has softened enough to give me lacebite. At first the stiff insert worked very well, though.

that or the skate could be too deep or too shallow and your foot is either coming out of the skate meaning the laces going across are digging into your foot or too shallow meaning the skate laces come down more ontop of ur foot

I have the same problem. Yes the tongue on the One90's is good, except that pad down the middle of the tongue eventually molds to where your laces are. It is at the point where I get the pain. I teach at a hockey school all summer, so I am forced to undo my top to eyelets instead of just the top one in order to avoid pain.

I was having problems with lacebite on a pair of inlines, so I cut up a mousepad and duct-taped it on the tongues of the skates. Worked like a charm. Same idea as those Maltese pads, but a lot cheaper.

It looks pretty ghetto, but my pants cover up the tongue anyways.

I stopped into a LHS in my area last night and they stated that they are getting lots of complaints about lacebite with the One90's and they had these things flying off the shelves when they received their 1st shipment.........

That's exactly what I did too, except I cut out a square hole in the middle of it. The idea of that is to take pressure off the affected area.

I got my one90s when they first came out in the local lhs.. and still have yet to receive any lacebit at all. On a side note i did find that the skates were tough to break in even after molding.

I think I got my lacebite on the 8090s because I don't lace the top eyelets. The tongue is probably designed for the skate to be fully laced, and not for the extra mobility with the top eyelets unlaced.

I agree that can be the starting point of the problem. I only had lace bite once about 7 years ago. I just wore my skates too tight, too long, refing a doubleheader without changing my socks between games. I know how much it hurts.
