Easton Ultra Lite OPS?

Recommended Posts

Kyle McLaren Ultra Lite OPS

So I saw this last week on eBay and was wondering what exactly it was, but I didn't want to get into a bidding war with anyone, so I couldn't ask.

Now that it's mine (pending shipment, of course) can anyone shed some light on it? The seller said it's a 2 piece, but after he sent me a pic of where the blade and shaft meet (he couldn't tell me if it a standard or tapered), it would seem to be a OPS- there didnt seem to be a clear cut between the shaft and blade, but there was a faint line near where a tapered blade would be inserted.

So, does anyone have the skinny on this stick? I'll update when it arrives, of course.

It might be a painted-over two piece. Quite a few pros use these; and seeing as the picture shows a faint line, it kind of reinforces that it is two pieces.

most OPS are really fused tapered 2 pieces anyway, and all of my OPS have had a line. I'd actually prefer if it was a 2 piece. A black tapered "ultra lite" shaft with wood synthesis blade would be badass.

If he hadn't have confirmed it's a two-piece that thing just looks like the Ultra Lite woody Brad Stuart used, but with a complete paint job. At least it has a better paint job than the actual ULs Easton makes, save for the ones Kariya has.

that guy was me, but it didnt seem like it was a 2 piece from the pic.

Now that I'm looking at the pic again I'm getting worried that Mack is right. there seems to be some crosshatching above the taper line, but I know that McLaren Uses Synergies.

edit: Pic of connection point.

Actually no one's sure of what it is.

You are bidding on an Easton Ultra Lite all carbon hockey stick.

:P

I know for a fact that Stuart of the Bruins used a stick that looked JUST like that one and it was all wood. Wood with the typical fibre sides.

I may be wrong but this guy seems to be stretching the truth.

Yet he's corrected/clarified his description. Oh Snap II: Electric Boogaloo.

Yea.. looking at the pics, the closeup looks like the consistancy of wood..

I feel bad for whoever bought it.

I remember when easton made ultralite woodies.. they were the only wood sticks that I liked. I think they still sell them in Canada :(

Just following up:

it is indeed a wood stick. and a tall one at that. It's about as tall as me, and I'm 5'10. I worked it out with the seller, but haven't decided what I want to do with it yet. I won't cut it until I know that I'm keeping it.

It's a wood stick, trust me. You can even tell by looking at the name plate.

Even so, when you look at the picture of the blade, you can see the texture of the glass sock that they have and it almost has this rough cross hatch to it underneath the black paint. None of my OPS have that rougher type of finish at that point in the hosel.
