Miserable

Issue With One90s

Recommended Posts

While drying off my skates after a game tonight, I found that the outsole of my right skate has started to seperate from the rest of the boot in the back. Has anyone seen this yet? Also, is this something that Bauer will warenty? I've only skated on them about 8 times and i take really good care of my skates, they even have their own piece of carpet that i lay them on. :D I'll call my LHS where I got them tomorrow but wanted to try to get some opinions here first.

here are some craptastic pics:

we have seen that at our store as has another store in the area, What size are yours?

we have noticed it on a few size 9.5 and up, and bauer has told us it is a problem with the way the ls2 blade holder was mounted, check to see if it's centered, the other thing we noticed was a creaking on the toe of the skate blade in all the skates like that. Because the ls2 was mounted incorrectly, after use the side of the outsole it was mounted further from began to peel, like in your pictures. Bauer believe it is either just the was it was mounted, but they also said it may be the bigger sizes of the lightspeed 2's, we are still waiting to hear back from them.

Thanks Shane.

They are 10.5's. The holders look pretty straight to me but what do I know? Haven't heard any creaking yet but this just happened, I played last night and the boots were fine.

Are they planning to warenty the defective pairs you have once they figure out the cause?

thanks again.

as far as I know it is able to be warrantied, plus bauer has the 3 month warranty on the boots and i assume after only 8 sessions you are still within that. We have warrntied the 2 pairs we have seen do that

How long did you heat them for?

Got them done by the guy at the shop, he followed the instructions and had done a couple of pairs already. I think it was 2 minutes.

I am having issues with my pair as well. Today I've noticed the toe cap is starting to come off from the outsole in the front, I guess I ain't the only one with a few problems, but NBH has excellent costumer service for this product so you will be taken care of.

Now that you mention it, the front of the one cap is a little off of the boot at the bottom but I didn't think that was a big deal since it was like that when i got them and the cap doesn't move.

I use a lot of Bauer stuff and only wear Bauer skates and this is the first time I've ever had an issue. I hope they can take care off me, I tried on my old 7000's and they feel like cinder blocks, I won't be able to go back to them for too long while this gets worked out.

Buy Kor. Same fit idea (zero negative space) and very minimal problems in over 1 year of market availability. My next skates will definitely be Kor.

I doubt they would refund me for these over just replacing them so I'm not going to shell out another 500.00 on top of what I already paid for these. Even if they would refund me, I would either get another pair of One90's or take a look at the 70's. Bauer's been pretty good to me so I won't hold one slip up against them.

I don't think those pictures are good enough. They are out of focus. Take better pictures and let's see then.

Look at the area...yes, that's rubber - won't bond as well as in the front. I noticed that on mine the minute I got mine. There was a slight lip between the outsole/boot.

Yeah, I was beat last night and had trouble holding the camera steady, here's some new ones.

I see what you are saying about bonding to rubber but if they came that way I would be fine with it, the outsole was flush when I got them and part of the outsole near the rubber still is flush so it seems it's breaking away.

Okay that''s coming off.

It looks like an adhesive problem (most likely because of the rubber.)

This post will be answered by one of our NBH reps, I am sure of.

Cool, well not really but at least I know I have a legitimate issue.

Do you think I should still contact the place I got them from? I was going to run over there in about an hour or so.

Thanks JR.

That would be the first step, go where you bought them.

Will do. It's a nice day so I could use a ride plus it gets me out of the office for a while. :D

seems like everything breaks now a days, not just hockey stuff, everything... Cars being the worst

Sh*t happens. I'm really not that upset about it. I'm usually always pissed off about something and this would send me over the edge but I'm pretty calm about it. My wife was proud of me when I didn't start throwing things and screaming.

It's a new product and you take a chance by purchasing something that hasn't had a long life in the marketplace. As long as Bauer corrects this for me, it's no big deal.

I just wish I could get them taken care of right away so I didn't have to go back to my old skates for a while.

miserable you said it perfectly the worst part of warranty replacements is you have to wait. to me it is absord. in many cases when there is a warranty defect you are given something else in the mean time. What if you had no other skates. plus i thought these skates had been tested by the pros. i know that nbh makes different prostock stuff but i thought the outsole would be one piece that did not change. did no equipment managers complain...and if they did why not fix it. i love using bauer products, when not breaking i feel they make many of the best pieces. If something simple like an outsole coming off the boot it seems like they were set on the release date of the skate. and mis mounted ls2 powers. there was prolems with mismounted ls1's on the xx's. you would think that would've been one area of the manufacturing process they would have extensively tested after their failure in the original relase of the ls1

I have been informed that, in the past, Bauer has different equipment for the pros and for retail. CCM uses the same for both. I don't know if this is true for the One90 skates, but there is another post about the pro version of the skates' tendon guards' not having the vents.

I agree tthat Bauer makes different equipment for the pros (pro stock). However they do not completely remake the product for them. Many of the components are kept the same. Same of them are made a lil better or just different. The bauer retail and pro stock differences would be like comparing a vector 10 to a vector 8. the vector 8 uses many of the same materials and manufacturing process but the vector 10 has a few modifactions to some parts to make them a better skate (and a bet the glue on the outsole and mismounted holders aren't one of the differences)

Yeah, waiting stinks. Hopefully it won't be a long wait. I finally got used to these skates and now I have to go back to my old ones and get used to them again just in time for these or a new pair to come in and I'll have to get used to them all over again. Oh well, it could be worse.

Dropped them off at the LHS, the guy told me repeatedly that it was up to Bauer on how to move forward. He looked like he was waiting for me to scream and demand another pair but I just told him it was cool and to give me a call when they hear back from Bauer. I guess a lot of people bitch and yell with stuff like this. It's not worth getting crazy over.

Does anyone know what type of turn around time Bauer has on returns? The guy at the shop wasn't sure. He said they could just send out a new pair right away or try to fix these. I have a tournament in October and I would like to have them back by then.
