Crosby's glove

Anyone catch the interview with Sid in THN's season preview. He managed to say absolutely nothing about everything. It's the epitome of bland.

You're right, I guess Ovechkin didn't score 13 more goals, score more points in total, have a better +/-, have half of C's penalty minutes, and win the Calder while playing with arguably worse players. Besides, Ovechkin didn't receive 1/10th of the hype Crosby did before either played an NHL game. Ovechkin can also play a physical game (before anyone says Sid can too, taking stupid penalties doesn't equate to playing a physical game). So what if he is 2 years older? He is a better player.

They are two completely different players, Ovechkin is a pure goal scorer and Crosby is more of a passer. It will be interesting to see what Crosby is like at 20.

Ok I'm done arguing my point now, peace B)

I read it, it was as you say, bland. I listen to the caps report on wednesdays, and they usually have a player on for about 20 minutes or so, and they go through the usual process of typical questions, but they also manage to sound interesting.

Like last week, matt pettinger explained where he got the nickname "princess" from, which olie now is the only one who calls him it (he got it from hanlon in portland)

But crosby didn't talk about practical jokes apart from the deep heat in the jock, which is again, bland and unoriginal, said leno was great, said nothing about anything.

Was a bit disapointing to be honest

Anybody read the hockey news?

They have tipped Crosby to be the top scorer in the NHL next season with 116 points.

It's certainlly possible, considering the fact that he can rack up both goals and assists.

I think you can pencil in for Thornton, Spezza, Jagr, Ovechkin, Crosby, Heatley, and Staal to all get 100pts, with Alfredsson, Lecavalier, Richards, Forsberg, Kovalchuk, and Zetterberg getting a chance too.

Also, Spezza is second with 113 points. In the recent issue, they make mention of a varied opinion and not coming to a clear consensus but you have to think with a full season in San Jose and an improvement on the left wing that Thornton will only build on his success last season. Any argument made against his durability could just as well be made against Crosby, who missed stretches in junior because of the grind teams were putting him through.

THN Predictions

Crosby - 116

Spezza - 113

Ovechkin - 112

Jagr - 111

Heatley - 109

Thornton - 106

I really don't think Thornton should be that low.

Exactly. There is no reason to think that Thornton won't repeat. A full season between Cheechoo and Bell won't cause his point totals to drop. And why would THN pick Spezza to be second in points? He had 13 less points than his linemates Heatley and Alfie. I can't see his point total increasing while his linemates' decreasing. I think THN is just trying to piss me off with these predictions.

Only reason I can see Thornton dropping in production (barring injuries of course) is because they'll play Anaheim a lot and he'll see a lot of Pronger.

Spezza missed some time with a hip/back injury. He would of led the league in scoring had he not gotten injured. Or definetly be in the top 3. Guy had 90 points in 68 games. If he just gets a little smarter there is no doubt this guy will win the scoring title one day.

I had forgotten that he had missed time being injured. I'll repeat that I don't see him scoring more points than the wingers on his line, simply because most of his points come from assists. If he were a goal scorer it'd be a different story.

And if we're going to play the "he would have" game, McCabe was on pace for 100+ points almost half way through the season.

To get 82 points Nash would need 80 goals.

No he wouldn't, he had 31 goals and 23 assists this season in 54 games.

That would be 47 goals and 35 assists in 82 games.

Since the joke's lost on you, maybe I can drop a box of toothpicks and you can tell me how many came out.
