Best for Defenceman?

Recommended Posts

hi all! This is my first post and look for help!!!

For the next season, I play defence.

I was centre but somehow, I am defence.

I gotta buy new sticks and have lots of budgets

But, I have some problem.

I wonder which stick is the best for d-man and which curve?

(So, Please Choose one of each company: Bauer, Easton, and TPS)

PS- oh! I also need a feedback for Lidstrom curve(has anyone used this?)!

Thanks!

you can do pretty much anything with any curve.

generally from what ive seen around me, most Dmen have Heel wedges. This is because they have a huge sweet spot and have to do less stick handling.

As a forward i like the Iginla curve, nice mid curve for stick handling.

But when i play D I use the same curve as i'm used to, and also i know a buddy of mine uses a lidstrom and he can stick handle the best ive seen.

Basically what im trying to say is its all personal preferance. When you get used to the curve you'll be able to do everything. My advice would be to just get a good stick in the curve you like and are used to.

I personally like TPS XN10's because theyre tanks, theyre light and perform well.

Well thanks!

Well.... (it's kind a bit off topic)

if you have to choose one either Bauer XXX lite or TPS Adrenaline, what would you choose? (For D-man)

Adrenaline simply for the fact that it will last longer.

Zach

HA! Ive broke 3 in the last 6 months. Stiff flex also so the blade keeps breaking. Adrenaline has the best feel ever but that blade breaks easily if you ask me. Get the XXX Lite. Its working great for me so far. Amazing feel.

But I dont know if its good for a defensemen ?

Hey Bud

Personaly i love my new rbk 6k green and black stick. And from day 1 of defense i have used a pronger curve.i tried others along the way but if your looking to kill a puck on the penalty kill or looking for a long end slap shot then pronger is right up your street.

I mostly play defense and find that using a mild curve such as the modano/forsberg work well since I do more passing etc. I also moved to a stiffer stick which helps with shooting etc. One other thing that I use is a longer stick (about 2-3 inches longer) to help with poke checks.

Most seem to prefer longer blades with a heel curve, mostly the Pronger/Lidstrom/Lecavalier curve.

^^^ what he said. & don't forget the square toe for pulling it off the boards.

I'd just go with what you're using now. Unless the blade itself is drastically small, don't fix what's presumably not broken.

Alot od D-men i know also use longer sticks, probobly for poke checking but like mack said unless you feel something really needs to change then do it but don't just do it for the sake of it.

I play D and use a 9/16" Smyth curve.

Does Smyth curve work okay for D?

i was checking out the smyth curve in a warrior OPS the other day at my local shop. i really dig it. more than the robatille. i just need to find it in replacement blade form.
